Our research program focuses on exploring the structural behavior, phase transitions, and kinetics of planetary materials under extreme conditions corresponding to the deep interior conditions of exoplanets. Our main tools are static compression using diamond anvil cells and dynamic compression using high-powered lasers (Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE)- Omega, Advanced Photon Source (APS) - the Dynamic Compression Sector (DCS), Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS)- Matter in Extreme Conditions, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL)- National Ignition Facility (NIF)) with in situ X-ray diffraction measurements and Z pulsed power facility (Sandia National Laboratories) to obtain constraints on the equation of state, phase transitions, and melting behaviors of planetary materials under extreme conditions.
We are actively seeking passionate and enthusiastic graduate students to join our group. If you are interested in joining our Group, please contact Donghoon Kim at donghoonkim@korea.ac.kr.
열정있는 대학원생 및 학부연구생을 모집하고 있습니다. 관심 있으신 학생분은 이메일(donghoonkim@korea.ac.kr)로 연락주시면 감사하겠습니다.
