PROFESSIONAL & ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

Dr. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa is currently working as Controller of Examinations & Professor(CSE), Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala -147001 (Punjab) - (A State University established by Govt. of Punjab).

The Ph.D Thesis of Dr. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa has been awarded as the “Best Ph.D. Thesis Award” by Computer Society of India (CSI) in the year 2014. Dr. Dhindsa has also been awarded “Outstanding Researcher Award” for his contribution in the field of Computer Science and Engineering at NITTTR, Chandigarh (Dec. 2016). He has also worked as Coordinator of Enterprise Resource Planning (2016-2019) & college website@BBSBEC (2015-2019). He is the Member, Board of Studies (Computer Applications) of IKG Punjab Technical University, Jalandar (2021). He has also been the Member, Board of Studies (Information Technology) of MRS Punjab Technical University, Bathinda (2019). His experience includes Expert Member for CSE branch, Academic Committee, Faculty of Engg. & Technology at Punjabi University, Patiala & as Expert for various selection and promotion committees.

He is an avid researcher and has been involved in the academics and research in the field of Computer science and Engineering & IT for the last more than 22 years. His Bibliography has been listed in the Asia Pacific (Vol. XVI) – Who’s Who (Jan. 2018). He has already guided PhD Thesis of 6 PhD scholars & dissertations/thesis of 40+ M.Tech. (CSE) - PG students; and is also currently guiding 5 PhD scholars. Dr. Dhindsa is the Research Supervisor for guiding PhD research scholars in the discipline of Computer Engg. at IKG-Punjab Technical University, Jalandar, Punjab (Supervisor ID: 11030047). He has been granted 3 International Patents & published 1 Indian Patent & 1 Indian Patent has been currently filed.

He has been the NBA Programme Coordinator for BTech(CSE) Programme at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engg. College, Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab) for which BTech(CSE) Programme got accredited from NBA for three years (2017-2020).

As Head of CSE Department@BBSBEC, BTech (CSE) Programme got accredited from NBA for year (2020-2021) & again from year (2021-2024). His work experience also includes Incharge, Computer centre@BBSBEC. He has been also the Member-Coordinator for NAAC for preparation of faculty and staff regarding Criterion points for NAAC peer team-2021 visit (March-2021), for which BBSBEC Institute got accredited from NAAC for five years (2021-2025).

His current research interests include Cloud Computing, IoT, Big Data, Web Engineering, Database & Security, & Mobile Computing. He has been the Technical committee member at ICCIDS-2018 Conference (International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Data Science) held from 7-8^th April 2018, Gurgaon, India & has also been the Member, National Organizing Board for ICACA-2018 held at NIT, Uttarakhand (Feb. 2018).

He has been also part of Distinguished Speakers of Computer Society of India (CSI) for Region-1. Dr. Dhindsa has been the Program Committee Member for IEEExplore-International Conference on “Advanced Computing & Communication Technologies” [ICACCT 2015]; & Member, Technical committee for 2nd Journal Conference on Modeling and Optimization (JCMO 2015), held at Dubai, UAE. He has also brought FDP Grants to BBSBEC & has been the Coordinator of various Faculty development Programmes(FDP) such as AICTE-ISTE Induction/Refresher Programme on ‘Mobile Application Development’, & also of FDP on ‘Cloud Computing: Applications & Issues’-July 2016 (MRSPTU sponsored).

Dr. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa has authored more than 138+ publications in refereed & indexed International journals (including SCI, Scopus, WoS, and Thomas Reuters indexed) & also Proceedings of many reputed International Conferences (IEEE, SPRINGER, ACM). He is also Reviewer of several referred journals of international repute such as Inderscience Journals (Switzerland), British Journal of Applied Science & Technology, JECR (USA), IJCTE (Singapore), JAIT of Academy Publisher (Finland), IJCA (USA) and IAENG International Journal of Computer Science. He has also been the Peer-review Expert for 3rd International Conference on Machine Learning and Computing held at Singapore (February 26-28^th, 2011). He is also Member, Editorial Board of Journals for International Journal of Computer Theory and Engineering (IJCTE),Singapore; Journal of Computer Science and Engineering (JCSE); Journal of Information Technology and Research (JITR); Journal of Emerging Technologies in Web Intelligence (JETWI), Finland and International Journal of Modeling and Optimization (IJMO). He is also on the expert panel for reviewing books related with Computer science & Information Technology of publishers such as McGraw Hill.

He has been the Organizing Secretary of “International Conference on Advancements in Computing and Communication (ICACC-2012)”; Member, Organizing committee for International Conference (2010) on “Future Challenges in Wireless Communication, Optical Communication and Network” jointly hosted and organized by IEI(I) and BBSBEC; Organizing Secretary of National conference (2008) on “Advancements in Computer Engg. (ACE)”; Event coordinator of the National level Project Exhibition Event of the ISTE Annual Convention – “TECHFEST”; Co-ordinator of One-Day Orientation workshop on “Effective Teaching Skills”; & Executive committee member of the National level conference (NCCSIT) organized in year 2006.

He is Life-Member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE); Fellow (FIE) of Institution of Engineers (IEI); Member, Association of Computer Electronics and Electrical Engineers (ACEEE); Member, International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology (IACSIT); Life-Member, Punjab Academy of Science (PAC); Life-Member, Computer Society of India (CSI); Member of IDES group; Fellow and Lifetime Member of ISRD; Member, International Association of Engineers (IAENG) and Universal Association of Computer & Electronics Engineers (UACEE).
