Dr. Joanne R. Bantang of the Department of Home Economics Education served as a Module Writer for the Parent Effectiveness Service (PES) program, an initiative aimed at empowering parents and parent substitutes. The program seeks to enhance their knowledge and skills, enabling them to fulfill their parental duties effectively and promote the holistic development of their children.
During her engagement in June 2025, Dr. Bantang contributed significantly to the review and revision of a vital module for the Parental Effectiveness Seminar organized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Her expertise was fundamental in shaping content that resonates with families' real-world challenges and opportunities.
Drawing from her extensive background in Home Economics, Dr. Bantang developed four comprehensive sessions within the module: Family Resources, Managing Finances, Managing Time, and Managing Energy and Fatigue. These topics align closely with areas of her expertise, emphasizing practical skills that parents can readily adopt to improve family dynamics and resource management.
Her involvement highlights a critical collaboration between the department and DSWD, illustrating how the expertise of home economists is essential in delivering family-centered programs.
Her dedication and expertise demonstrates the positive impact that collaborative efforts can have in strengthening families and building a better future for our communities.
