This Privacy Policy explains how Dharma collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Dharma mobile app and related services.
Dharma is a spirituality app focused on Buddhism and Hinduism. It currently includes account creation, daily verses, spiritual chat, guided practice features, gratitude journaling, subscription paywall access, and learning content.
By using Dharma, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
## 1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information depending on how you use the app.
### A. Account Information
When you create or use an account, we collect and process:
- Email address
- Password credentials through Supabase Auth
- Optional display name
- Internal user identifier associated with your account
### B. Content You Create in the App
If you use certain Dharma features, we may process or store:
- Gratitude journal entries you write in the app
- Messages you send through the spiritual chat feature
- Daily practice completion status and streak information
### C. Subscription and Paywall Data
If you encounter Dharma's subscription paywall, Dharma uses Superwall to manage paywall presentation and subscription state. In that flow, Dharma currently sends the following user attributes to Superwall:
- Auth state
- Display name
- Email address
- Supabase user ID
Purchases and subscription billing are handled through Apple and are also subject to Apple's privacy terms.
### D. Data Stored Only on Your Device
Some data is stored locally on your device and is not currently synced to Dharma's backend, including:
- Daily verse reflections saved for the current day
- Local daily task progress state used to track completion during the day
### E. Learn Content
Dharma serves article and spiritual learning content through its backend. This content is generally not personal data.
## 2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Authenticate you and keep you signed in
- Save and display your gratitude journal entries
- Track daily completion history and streaks
- Generate responses in the spiritual chat feature
- Show and manage subscription paywalls and subscription access
- Operate, secure, maintain, and improve the app
- Respond to support, legal, or safety issues when necessary
## 3. How Dharma Processes and Stores Your Data
### A. Supabase
Dharma uses Supabase for authentication and app data storage.
Based on the current implementation, Dharma stores the following account-related and user-generated data in Supabase:
- User profile data, including email and optional display name
- Gratitude journal entries
- Streak records
- Daily completion records
These records are associated with your authenticated account.
### B. OpenAI
When you use the spiritual chat feature, the messages you send are transmitted through Dharma's backend to OpenAI to generate a response.
Dharma does not currently maintain a dedicated chat history table in its own database based on the current codebase. However, chat prompts and responses are processed by OpenAI to provide the feature. OpenAI's handling of data is governed by its own terms and privacy practices.
### C. Superwall
Dharma uses Superwall to present subscription paywalls, identify subscription status, and manage access to paid features.
### D. Local Device Storage
Some information is stored locally on your device using iOS local storage mechanisms, such as UserDefaults, to support app functionality.
## 4. When We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We share information only as needed with service providers that help us run Dharma, including:
- Supabase, for authentication and database infrastructure
- OpenAI, for chat response generation
- Superwall, for paywall and subscription access management
- Apple, for in-app purchases and subscription billing
We may also disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the safety, rights, or integrity of Dharma, our users, or others.
## 5. Data Retention
We retain data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the app and operate the service, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
Based on the current product behavior:
- Account-related data remains associated with your account until deleted
- Gratitude journal entries, streak records, and daily completion records remain in Supabase until your account is deleted or the data is otherwise removed
- Locally stored reflections and task progress remain on your device until they are cleared by app behavior, overwritten, or the app is removed
## 6. Account Deletion
Dharma currently provides an in-app account deletion flow.
When you delete your account through the app, Dharma deletes your authenticated user and, based on the current database design, this cascades to associated user-owned records, including:
- Profile data in the public users table
- Gratitude journal entries
- Streak records
- Daily completion records
Locally stored data on your device may remain until it is cleared by the app or removed from the device.
## 7. Your Choices
You can choose whether to:
- Create an account
- Provide an optional display name
- Use the chat, journaling, and paid subscription features
- Delete your account from within the app
If you do not want Dharma to process chat content through OpenAI, do not use the chat feature.
If you do not want subscription-related data shared with Superwall, do not purchase or interact with Dharma's subscription flow.
## 8. Security
We use third-party infrastructure and authentication providers to help secure the service, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
## 9. Children's Privacy
Dharma is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and address the issue.
## 10. International Processing
Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own depending on where our service providers operate their infrastructure.
## 11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this file and may provide additional notice where appropriate.

These Terms & Conditions (the "Agreement") govern your use of the Dharma mobile app and related services (the "Service"). By downloading, installing, or using Dharma, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
## 1. Service Overview
Dharma is a spirituality app focused on Buddhism and Hinduism. It provides features including:
- Account creation and authentication
- Daily verses and spiritual teachings
- Spiritual chat powered by AI
- Guided meditation and mantras
- Gratitude journaling
- Daily practice tracking
- Learning content and articles
- Subscription management through Apple's In-App Purchase system
## 2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Dharma. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. By using Dharma, you represent that you meet these age requirements.
## 3. Account Responsibility
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access
You agree not to share your account with others or permit others to use your account.
## 4. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to violate any law or regulation
- Harass, threaten, defame, or harm other users
- Transmit malware, viruses, or other harmful code
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code
- Remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notices or labels
- Use the Service for commercial purposes without permission
- Impersonate another person or entity
## 5. Intellectual Property Rights
### A. Dharma's Intellectual Property
All content, features, functionality, software, code, and materials in Dharma are owned by Dharma or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
### B. Limited License
Subject to your compliance with this Agreement, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Dharma for personal, non-commercial purposes on compatible devices.
### C. Your Content
Any content you create or upload within Dharma (such as journal entries or chat messages) remains your property, but you grant Dharma a license to store, display, and use it as necessary to operate the Service.
## 6. Third-Party Services
Dharma uses third-party services including:
- Supabase for authentication and storage
- OpenAI for chat response generation
- Superwall for subscription management
- Apple for in-app purchases and billing
These services are governed by their own terms, privacy policies, and practices. You acknowledge that your use of these services is subject to their respective terms.

Dharma provides spiritual teachings, meditation guidance, and related content for educational and inspirational purposes only. Dharma is not a substitute for professional medical, mental health, legal, or financial advice.

### B. "As Is" Disclaimer
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. DHARMA DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, MERCHANTABILITY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
## 8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DHARMA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF DHARMA HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
DHARMA'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO DHARMA IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS, OR $29.99 USD, WHICHEVER IS LESS.
## 9. Subscriptions and Billing
### A. In-App Purchases
Dharma offers paid subscriptions and features through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Purchases are billed directly to your Apple account.
### B. Automatic Renewal
Paid subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple account settings.
### C. Apple Terms
Billing, subscription management, and purchase disputes are governed by Apple's terms. For billing issues or subscription problems, contact Apple Support.
## 10. Refund Policy
Dharma believes in fair treatment for all users. This refund policy applies to subscriptions and in-app purchases made directly through Dharma, where applicable.
### A. Refund Eligibility
You are eligible to request a refund for paid subscriptions or content purchased through Dharma if:
- Your request is made within 10 days of the purchase date, OR
- You purchased a subscription and are requesting a refund for unused portions within 10 days of purchase
### B. Non-Refundable Items
The following are non-refundable:
- Access to spiritual content, chat, or meditation guidance already accessed or consumed
- Trial periods that were clearly marked as non-refundable
- Refunds requested more than 10 days after purchase
### C. Informal Negotiation Process (1 Month)
Before any formal refund is processed, Dharma requires a 30-day informal negotiation and resolution period:
1. **Submit Request**: Contact us at virality.ventures.apps@gmail.com with a detailed description of your issue
2. **Response**: Dharma will attempt to respond as soon as possible
3. **Resolution Discussion**: During the 30-day period, you and Dharma will work together in good faith to resolve the concern through correspondence
4. **Documentation**: Keep records of all communication during this period
5. **Next Steps**: If the issue cannot be resolved after 30 days, either party may pursue formal resolution options outlined in Section 11
### D. Refund Processing
If a refund is approved after the informal negotiation period:
- Refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 14 business days
- Refunds are limited to the amount you paid; we do not provide compensation beyond what you purchased
- Account access or features purchased will be revoked upon refund processing
### E. Apple App Store Purchases
For subscriptions or purchases made through Apple's App Store, Apple's refund policy governs. You may request refunds directly from Apple through the App Store. Dharma defers to Apple's refund discretion for these transactions.
## 11. Dispute Resolution
### A. Informal Resolution
Before initiating formal legal action, you and Dharma agree to attempt to resolve any dispute through good faith negotiation and informal communication.
### B. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Malaysia, without regard to conflict of law principles.
### C. Jurisdiction
Any legal action or proceeding must be commenced in the courts located in Malaysia, and both parties consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of such courts.
## 12. Termination
### A. Termination by User
You may stop using Dharma and delete your account at any time through the app settings.
### B. Termination by Dharma
Dharma may suspend or terminate your account, access, or Service if:
- You violate this Agreement
- You engage in unlawful or harmful conduct
- You repeatedly violate community standards
- We are required to do so by law
Termination will not affect any refund obligations if applicable.
### C. Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Dharma may delete all associated data per the Privacy Policy.
## 13. Modifications to Terms
Dharma may update these Terms & Conditions at any time. If material changes are made, we will notify you and update the date at the top of this file. Your continued use of Dharma after changes constitute acceptance of the new terms.
## 14. Severability
If any provision of this Agreement is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
## 15. Entire Agreement
This Agreement, together with the Privacy Policy, constitutes the entire agreement between you and Dharma regarding the Service and supersedes all prior understandings and agreements.
