How can our food support our spiritual practice?
In his journal on the Three Steps, One Bow pilgrimage, DM Heng Chau describes how overeating impedes the bowing practice. Jin Wei Shi then explains how Ayurveda provides a helpful way to look at what we eat. There are three kinds of food: rajasic, tamasic, and sattvic. Rajasic food causes restlessness, anger; tamasic food causes heaviness and torpor; and sattvic food causes lightness and clarity.
