For rising sophomores, rising freshmen and rising 8th graders, it is about 8-10 hours per week unless one wants to contribute more.
For rising Seniors, rising Juniors and High school grads, it is about 10-12 hours per week.
For intern leaders and coordinators it is 14-20 hours or more.
For undergrad or adult mentors it is about 4 hours per week (or more if one is willing to).
Yes, you can take day off with the permission of your mentor or coordinators provided you can make up for absence yourself by studying, discussing and working on your own.
The main sessions will be conducted thrice a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mostly in the evenings. There could be other sessions and meetings as required by the projects.
The role of the coordinator or leader is recommended for High school grads (those who finished their 12th grade in 2021). But some exceptions could be made in case somebody is interested and has the required commitment and skills to do so.
Also if a high school grad is not able to contribute enough, they could only be contributors too.
Specific project work assigned under the internship program that qualifies as volunteer work is eligible for volunteer hours. These activities include coordination, creating question banks (as in Mahabharata project), creating reading material like reports, essays, videos etc. Participating in learning sessions is considered as part of learning only and not part of volunteering.
The details on how to log the volunteer hours and how they will be approved will be provided during the orientation.
