KNU Electrochemistry Lab

At the KNU Electrochemistry Lab for Energy and Catalysis (ELEC), We design electrochemical materials and interfaces for sustainable energy conversion and green chemical production. Our research integrates catalyst synthesis, interfacial engineering, mechanistic electrochemistry, and device-level validation to develop efficient and selective electrochemical systems for clean energy applications.

강원대학교 전기화학 에너지 촉매 연구실 (ELEC)은 연구실은 지속가능한 에너지 전환과 친환경 화학물질 생산을 위한 전기화학 소재 및 계면을 설계합니다. 촉매 합성, 계면 제어, 반응 메커니즘 분석, 디바이스 평가를 통합하여 청정에너지 응용을 위한 고효율·고선택성 전기화학 시스템을 개발합니다.

1. Electrocatalysis & Reaction Mechanisms

We investigate electrocatalytic reactions at catalyst–electrolyte interfaces, focusing on activity, selectivity, and reaction pathways. Target reactions include oxygen reduction, hydrogen peroxide production, hydrogen evolution, nitrate reduction, carbon dioxide reduction, and ammonia-related electrochemical reactions.

촉매–전해질 계면에서 일어나는 전기촉매 반응의 활성, 선택성, 반응 경로를 연구합니다. 산소환원반응, 과산화수소 생성, 수소발생반응, 질산염 환원, 이산화탄소 환원, 암모니아 관련 전기화학 반응을 주요 대상으로 합니다.

2. Materials Design & Interface Engineering

We design functional catalytic materials and interfaces using oxides, carbons, polymers, molecular catalysts, and hybrid structures. By controlling catalyst–support interactions, heterostructures, and surface chemistry, we aim to improve charge transfer, mass transport, selectivity, and stability.

산화물, 탄소 소재, 고분자, 분자 촉매, 하이브리드 구조를 활용하여 기능성 촉매 소재와 계면을 설계합니다. 촉매–지지체 상호작용, 이종구조, 표면 화학을 제어하여 전하 전달, 물질 전달, 선택성, 안정성을 향상시키고자 합니다.

3. Sustainable Energy Conversion Systems

We develop electrochemical and photoelectrochemical systems for converting renewable electricity into fuels and value-added chemicals. Our work focuses on hydrogen, peroxide, ammonia-related chemistry, and carbon-neutral conversion technologies using integrated energy devices.

재생에너지를 연료와 고부가가치 화학물질로 전환하기 위한 전기화학 및 광전기화학 시스템을 개발합니다. 수소, 과산화수소, 암모니아 관련 화학, 탄소중립 전환 기술을 통합형 에너지 디바이스 관점에서 연구합니다.
