MathType for Google Forms ("MathType", "the extension") is a Chrome browser extension that provides visual math input for Google Forms. This privacy policy explains what data the extension accesses, how it is used, and what is never collected.
MathType does not collect, transmit, store remotely, or share any of the following:
Personal information (name, email, age, location)
Google account information
Form content, questions, or answers
Browsing history or activity
Usage statistics or analytics
Any data sent to a remote server
MathType has no backend server. There is no account system. Nothing you type is ever sent anywhere outside your own device.
MathType stores the following data in Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local), which remains on your device only and is never transmitted:
Last math expression: The most recently entered math expression, restored when the popup is reopened.
Expression history: Up to 30 recently used math expressions for convenience.
This data can be cleared at any time by removing the extension or clearing Chrome's extension storage.
MathType requests the following Chrome permissions:

Because the extension collects no personal data whatsoever and does not communicate with any external server, it is compliant with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act).
MathType bundles the following open-source libraries locally within the extension package. These libraries run entirely on your device and make no network requests:
MathQuill (mathquill.com) — visual math editor
KaTeX (katex.org) — math rendering
jQuery (jquery.com) — DOM utilities
If this policy is updated, the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Since no personal data is collected, changes are unlikely to affect users in any meaningful way.
