What do you do in the Alumni Association?
As an alumni association active member, we plan bonding activities within the chapter and with undergraduate chapters within the metroplex. We create community service events, collaborations, participate in the journey, and so many other things similar to undergrad. Being that we are not tied to one university and are professionals, we have more flexibility with what we can do and when we can do it.
What makes the grad chapter different from Undergrad chapters?
One big difference between undergrad involvement and AA involvement is your time commitment. We have two tiers available for you to decide what time commitment works in your favor. Our Amethyst membership requires a 50% attendance to all business meetings and allows you to participate on Exec or hold a chair position. Our Rose membership does not have an attendance requirement and you choose what events work for you. There is a difference in cost based on your choice. To find more information on the tiers, please contact our VP of membership at slgdfwaa.membership@gmail.com.
Am I too old to join a sorority? Will I be accepted or included in spite of my age?
You can never be too old to become a Gamma! Within our membership, we have a range of experience and knowledge. Our membership ranges from Mid 20s to Mid 40s. We have members who are mothers and grandmothers and we all find a way to still make authentic connections. That is what makes our organization so beautiful; we find connections in spite of our differences and embrace them a long the way.
Who can join sigma lambda gamma?
The DFWAA accepts women and gender fluid people who have completed their bachelors degree. The process for joining as a Gamma versus a new member varies. For interests who wish to join SLG, there is a journey intake process where you will under go a 8-10 week education process working on personal and professional goals! Gammas who are interested to join will complete an application process which includes proof of degree, a letter of good standing, and more professional information . To find more information to join, please contact our VP of membership at slgdfwaa.membership@gmail.com.
Who do i talk to about joining and when can i join?
Your point person for joining will be our VP of Membership! The best way to contact them is at the following email: slgdfwaa.membership@gmail.com.
For Gammas, we are accepting members all the time! As soon as your application is completed and we can review your information, you will recieve a follow up email for how to set up a payment plan and how to access our social communication.
For inerests, we decide education based on the amount of interests we have! Due to the fact that we are not tied to a university schedule, we can hold intake whenever feels fit. The best ways to show you are interested and committed to joining our Chapter is to begin building a relationship with Gammas in our chapter, attend recruitment events, and informational sessions. Continued communication with our membership chair is key to helping us determine intake.
