Community Profile Book

In 2017, Devon returned to the Communities in Bloom (CiB) program by participating in the provincial Novice category. Over the following years, we have alternated between competing and non-evaluated categories. Devon won our population category in 2021 at the Provincial level. Devon’s first venture into the national level in 2024 resulted in a five bloom-silver award. This year, we are looking forward to the judges’ visit and recommendations.

We are in the final stages of developing a five-year plan for the committee. Our members bring diverse talents and backgrounds to the team which enrich the committee and allow us to establish and maintain various projects and activities. These include projects such as the Trees of Devon booklet, Love Your Yard!, Community Spirit Lives Here!, and a Facebook page and a Devon CiB website.

Since Devon’s last evaluation, the committee has made presentations about our activities and outcomes to the Town’s administrative team, Devon Town Council and the Devon Lions Club. We have also joined the Chamber of Commerce.

We are grateful for the support from the Town of Devon which not only has financed us but also provides a staff member to support us and to provide liaise between the committee and the Town. We are fortunate to live in a community where many individuals and groups work together to make Devon a special place to call home and visit. Our committee members find it very satisfying to be among the many who play a role in adding to our already fantastic quality of life.
