Devon Cass

Hello!

I am a political philosopher working on theories of social and intergenerational justice, with particular focus on relational egalitarianism and republicanism. At present, I am a Research Associate at the Manchester Centre for Political Theory (Mancept), where I am part of  a project led by Christian Schemmel on "Analysing and Critiquing Relations of Inequality".

During March 2024, I will be a visiting fellow at the Hoover Chair for Social and Economic Ethics at UCLouvain.

Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Nova University of Lisbon (IfilNova) with a project on "Present Democracy for Future Generations", led by André Santos Campos.

I received my PhD from the Australian National University in 2021, where I was supervised by Philip Pettit. As a doctoral student, I was a visitor to Princeton's Center for Human Values. Before that, I completed my MA in Philosophy at Simon Fraser University and my BA in Philosophy and Political Science at McGill University. I grew up in British Columbia, Canada.  Most of the photos on this site are from around Tofino and Sombrio Beach on Vancouver Island.
