CSII Relu-Dumitru ROBAN is the principal investigator and an experienced sedimentary petrologist. He coordinates the project, fieldwork, all the activities within the Research Lithos Center, and the relationship with the laboratories of Arizona. He has the important task of interpreting depositional systems and the provenance of sediments, as well as estimating the origin of mafic rocks.

CSI Mihai N. DUCEA is an experienced tectonic petrologist who splits his time between the universities of Bucharest and Arizona. He has extensive experience in the Romanian Carpathians and supervises the igneous component of this project. At the University of Arizona, he oversees a TIMS and ICP-MS laboratory and an associated clean laboratory. He will conduct major and trace elemental analyses and whole rock isotopic measurements as well as supervise zircon U-Pb geochronology in the Arizona Laserchron and Zirchron laboratories.

CSI Mihaela C. MELINTE is one of the leading experts on the topic of the Carpathian flysch and a well-known biostratigrapher. She will be involved in lithostratigraphic and sedimentological analysis with implications for paleogeographic interpretations

CSII Peter LUFFI is an experienced petrologist. He will be involved in igneous petrology, trace elements, and isotopic data interpretation.

CSIII Dr. Ioan MUNTEANU has a significant experience in regional tectonics, basin analysis, and structural geology in both fold and thrust belts and extensional settings. He has gained vast experience from academic and industry activities in the past ten years, including complex exploration and research projects in the Carpathians. He is involved in problems of structural interpretations, stratigraphic correlations, and especially in the elaboration of the final tectonic model.

Anca BÂRLĂ is a Ph.D. student with an MS background in geosciences from the University of Arizona. She is an isotope geochemist who also has experience with Carpathian volcanic rocks and petrological modeling. Ms. Bârlă will provide the analyses of Sm-Nd isotopes and the chronology of U-Pb zircons, sphene, and baddeleyite.

Ph.D. Adriana Stoica Ducea, will accompany the project leader in the field and laboratory works at the Lithos Center. She will learn geochronological dating techniques at the University of Bucharest.
