English is the number one language used globally. Many countries use it as their main form of communication. Even now, countries that don't speak English are starting to integrate it into their language. However, it is also very crucial to keep our country's culture.
As of today, much of our media uses English to deliver its point to us. Since English is a world-renowned language, most people or even businesses are starting to use English. By using English, they can reach a broader audience to their benefit. So it's less to say that English is very important more or less a necessity if we want to reach people outside of our mother tongue.
But to all of this, preserving our country's local language is also important for generations to come. Local languages are a part of our nation's identity. Meaning that if these languages were to die out due to their loss in popularity, we would also feel out of touch with our own culture as many would think that their culture is boring and out of date. This would then lead to the loss of local cuisines, clothing, traditions, and many more. Lastly, people would then start to lose their own unique identity due to this state of detachment.
To summarize, even if English is the most used language in the world, it is also equally important to save our local languages as later on we can teach our future generations some of our past. In my opinion, it is best to learn both languages so that we can be socially integrated but also not lose our local language.
