Arranged beneath each Prince of Hell is a Court comprised of their demonic progeny. These assemblies of demons are born of their Prince's corrupted souls and are driven by the inclinations of their primogenitor.
The Courts of rival Princes will frequently quarrel with one another, but fraternize almost as much. Though they rarely amount to much upheaval shadow wars between Princes ebb and flow like the tides, washing their Courts around in the waves. When all one has to do is sit upon a throne and wallow a little drama can provide welcome entertainment.
Demons from all Courts in Hell belong
to one of three Houses. Inferior, Medius, and Superior.
Advancing through the Houses is done by the consumption of ontological, cosmic degradation. In order to grow, a demon
must successfully tempt others.
A Demon who does not feed itself will regress backward
through the Houses. A Superior who cannot sustain a sufficient mode of glorification may degrade all the way back to their originating size, beginning the cycle again in the House Inferior as an Imp.
It is possible for Demons to feed from one
another, but this is the most inefficient method for
obvious reasons. It is difficult to glean cosmic defilement from
a being who was born from sin itself. A desperate measure
oft reserved for only the most desperate of times.
Mortals provide far more nutrition and often
require little effort to tempt and seduce. Getting to the
mortal plane is the hardest part of the task for many
Demons. Once they arrive the buffet is
theirs for the taking.
The most coveted prey among Demons of every
stripe is the rare Angel. Though innately dangerous and notoriously elusive, the corruption of these divine beings provides enough shedding energy that multiple inferior Demons will grow to their full size in
one act of profane communion. To be responsible for an Angel's
fall into sin is to become a legend throughout Hell.
