WalkieTalky app uses Wi-Fi Direct (P2P), Bluetooth (RFCOMM), and Microphone access, you will need a policy that covers these specific data points before publishing to the Play Store.
Based on our current project structure and features, here is a breakdown of what our privacy policy should include:
Last Updated: April 12, 2026
WalkieTalky ("the App") is designed as a peer-to-peer communication tool. Our primary goal is to provide offline voice communication via Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth. We value your privacy and operate on a "Privacy by Design" principle.
Voice Data: The App captures audio through your microphone only when the Push-to-Talk (PTT) button is held. This audio is transmitted directly to your connected peer. We do not record, store, or upload your voice data to any servers.
Device Identifiers: The App uses your device name to help other users identify you during the pairing process.
To function offline, the App requires the following permissions:
Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): Required to capture your voice for transmission.
Location & Nearby Devices: Required by the Android system to discover and connect to nearby devices via Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth. We do not track your physical location.
Bluetooth: Used as a fallback communication method when Wi-Fi is unavailable.
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and use service-related information (such as your Advertising ID) to show relevant ads.
You can view Google’s Privacy Policy here.
No advertisements are shown during active voice transmissions.
Because WalkieTalky is a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) application, your data travels directly from one device to another over a local network. It does not pass through our servers. However, users should be aware that local P2P streams in this version may not be end-to-end encrypted.
Our App does not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under 13.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
