The overarching theme of my laboratory involves how the brain is sensitive to prenatal events. My line of research focuses on developmental alcohol exposure which can be harmful to the fetal brain. Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) refers to the range of possible outcomes following prenatal alcohol exposure in humans. My lab uses a rodent model of fetal alcohol exposure to assess the long-term behavioral consequences of alcohol exposure. In addition, the lab examines the brain following developmental alcohol exposure in an effort to correlate behavioral symptoms with brain changes.
