1. Introduction Welcome to DeutschPit ("we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use the DeutschPit mobile application (the "App").
2. Data Collection and Usage DeutschPit is designed to respect your privacy. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII) to our servers. The App operates primarily offline, and all your personal learning data remains strictly on your device.
Learning Progress: Your vocabulary database, learning statistics, and custom settings are stored locally on your device using local databases (Room) and SharedPreferences.
No Accounts: We do not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or log in to use the App.
Customer Support & Feedback: If you choose to use the in-app feedback form, the information you provide (such as your optional email address and message) is securely transmitted directly to the developer via the Telegram API solely for the purpose of addressing your inquiry. We do not store this information in any external databases, use it for marketing, or share it with third parties.
Data Deletion: Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can completely delete your data at any time by uninstalling the App or clearing the App's data and cache in your device settings.
3. Permissions and Device Features To provide specific functionalities, the App requests access to certain device features:
Microphone Access (android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO): The App uses your device's native speech recognition system to help you practice pronunciation and use voice input for adding new words. We do not record, save, or transmit your voice data to our servers. The audio is processed entirely by your device's built-in speech recognition service.
Text-to-Speech: The App uses your device's native Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine to pronounce words. This process occurs locally on your device.
Internet Access: The App requires internet access to download offline translation models (via Google ML Kit) and to load external grammar/context dictionaries (e.g., Reverso, Verbformen) within the in-app browser.
4. Third-Party Services The App utilizes certain third-party services that may collect information used to identify you, strictly governed by their own privacy policies:
Google Play Services: For handling in-app purchases and subscriptions safely. We do not have access to your payment details (credit card numbers, etc.).
Google ML Kit: Used for offline text translation.
External Websites: When using the "Context" or "Grammar" features, the App opens web pages (such as Reverso.net or Verbformen.de) in an integrated WebView. These third-party sites may use cookies or collect basic analytics. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites.
5. Advertising DeutschPit is completely Ad-Free. We do not use third-party advertising networks (like Google AdMob or Facebook Audience Network), and we do not track your behavior to show targeted ads.
6. Children's Privacy Our App is designed for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. If you are under the age of 13, please ensure you have parental consent to use the App.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
