ABOUT DESTINY ENGAGEMENT CENTER

Our Story: From Pain to Purpose

The journey toward what would eventually become the Destiny Engagement Center (DEC) began in 2009, after a deeply personal and painful experience. Harriet Wilcox—now the founder and lead coach—had just walked through the loss of her second baby, all while carrying invisible wounds behind a strong front. In the quiet ache of that season, a soul-deep question rose from her spirit:  “LORD, what were You thinking when You were forming me?”

That question became her prayer focus for several days, as she sought meaning in her pain and clarity for the future. Then one day, light broke through: her mind was drawn back to something the Lord had told her four years earlier—to teach His Word. At the time, she had quietly set it aside, thinking it wasn’t her priority. But now, worn out and willing, she surrendered.

The Lord then asked her to study His Word and prepare for ministry. In obedience, she began to align her life with that divine instruction. During that same season, she wrote a short tract titled “Why On Earth Am I Here?” and sketched a drawing of a man with a question mark on his head on the front cover. Although she never published it, it was a prophetic seed—a glimpse of the life message God would eventually bring forth through her.

That moment marked the beginning of a conscious and intentional journey of destiny—one that would, years later, blossom into the vision and movement known as the Destiny Engagement Center.

And in His faithfulness, God didn’t just give her clarity—He gave her comfort.

Two years later, against all odds, He blessed Harriet with a beautiful son. That child became a living reminder that God redeems pain, restores joy, and brings purpose even in the midst of brokenness.

If you're believing God for healing after the loss of a child—her story is a testimony: God sees you. His promises still stand.
