Who is "Destine Chinae"?

"Destine Chinae" is a 21 year old upcoming musician from Waterford City, Republic of Ireland.  She sings, write songs, plays guitar and records & produces her own music as of the year 2021. She runs all her social media and enjoys content creation.

Destine has been passionate about music since she was 11 years old. She was not exposed to as much music during her childhood as many artists and her family while being relatively musical now wasn't really at the time. However, Her mom did take piano lessons and sing around the house. She was in a children's choir from age 7 -8 but didn't develop her interest in music from here. At age 11, she got access to YouTube and discovered how to find songs she heard on the radio and look up singers she had heard of. She discovered Britain's Got Talent one day, and a particular audition sparked her passion. Everything spiraled forward from that day. She taught herself to sing by listening to singers whom she loved and knew were well respected such as Beyoncé and Rihanna. She wrote her first song at 11 also. A year later, she got a library book and began teaching herself to play guitar. 5 months later, she attended group guitar lessons and after this, she had 1-on-1 guitar lessons for 2 years until age 15.

Destine had always looked forward to going to a studio and recording her music but after having the experience, she decided to get into music production herself, so she could record and produce her own music. She began using BandLab, a beginner-friendly music-making platform. She produced an original song she wrote at age 13 called "On That Day" in June, 2020 and posted it on her YouTube Channel. Learning from her mistakes and improving her gear, Destine began producing a number of covers with BandLab also. Eventually, she was able to produce her debut single "Not For You" herself in August - September 2021. This experience taught her even more and she looks forward to exploring more about music production in the coming year.

The online presence of Destine Chinae began with an anonymous acapella singing account on Instagram in December 2018. The idea for the account was driven by the success of a live performance she did at school that week. Her aims for the page were simply to share her voice with the world, and today the page has gained over 3.1K followers with some of her videos being reposted on music talent accounts. In April 2019, Destine Chinae expanded her online presence further with the creation of her YouTube Channel.  She values consistency and quality, and the channel now has over 150 videos.

Destine Chinae released her debut single "Not For You" on the 5th October 2021. Information about this song can be found in the 'Music' section. The song had been anticipated greatly by her Instagram audience who engaged by pre-saving the song. It currently has over 4.7K streams on Spotify with its most streamed day being 14th October attaining 3.7K streams. This song is currently available on all music streaming platforms, including, Apple Music, Spotify, iTunes, Deezer, YouTube, and Tidal. This song is also available for purchase on Amazon.

In August 2019, at the age of 16, Destine Chinae recorded 5 original songs at a studio in Aba, Nigeria. The songs experienced a 2+ year delay in their release due to multiple reasons, however, all 5 songs have been released as of November 2021. They are also available for streaming on music streaming platforms.

Destine is influenced by many musicians and artists from numerous different genres in the music industry. Some of her favourites are Billie Eilish, H.E.R., Chloe x Halle, Summer Walker, and many upcoming artists from across the world, such as Cat Burns. Genres her music would fit into are R&B, Urban Pop, LO-FI, and Alternative but usually she just lets creative sessions flow without the constraints of a genre. Other genres she has an interest in exploring are Afropop, Reggae fusions, Rap, Hip-Hop, and Trap.

So far, the year 2022 has been a very exciting one for her. Her Debut EP titled "Growing Up" was released with pre-save beginning for this project on 20th August, while the release date was 30th August 2022.
