If you want a versatile 3-in-1 wearable that doubles as a fitness tracker and standalone music player, choose Desong Watch; if you need open-ear safety for active use and superior situational awareness, choose YouthWhisper Bone Conduction Headphones.
• Desong Watch: Its biggest strength is the unique 3-in-1 design combining a smartwatch, TWS earbuds, and a speaker in one device, but it trades off lower water resistance and a heavier build due to its complexity. This pick is for users who want all their tech on their wrist and don't mind a bulkier accessory.
• YouthWhisper Bone Conduction Headphones: Its biggest strength is the open-ear design that keeps your ears safe and alert to surroundings during sports, offering an incredibly lightweight 25g experience, but it lacks the multifunctional tracking features of a watch. This pick is for runners, cyclists, and commuters who prioritize safety and comfort over smart features.
The Desong Watch is a bold experiment in wearable convergence. It isn't just a timepiece; it is a complete audio station wrapped around your wrist. The core appeal lies in its "3 in 1" architecture, which integrates Bluetooth 5.0 earbuds directly into the side of the watch band. You can store these earbuds inside the watch case when not in use, charging them via gold-plated pins located on the device itself. This eliminates the anxiety of losing small buds or carrying a separate charging case. For travelers, this means you have a compact solution for listening to movies or podcasts without digging through a bag, making it a surprisingly practical option for those looking for a best kids headset for airplane scenarios where clutter is a concern, provided the child is old enough to manage the larger form factor.
This device targets the user who wants to consolidate their gadgets. With a 1.28-inch screen and built-in memory of 128MB, it functions as a standalone music player. You can transfer tracks from a PC to the watch and listen without needing a phone nearby. Beyond audio, it serves as a robust health companion, offering continuous heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, step counting, and calorie burning data. It also includes a blood pressure monitor, body thermometer, and sedentary reminders. If you are someone who hates wearing multiple devices, the ability to answer calls, record voice memos, and control cameras right from your wrist is a significant draw. The battery capacity of 480 mAh supports roughly four hours of talk time, which is sufficient for most daily commutes or short flights.

However, you must be realistic about its limitations. The integration of speakers, microphones, and wireless headphones makes the unit less rugged than a standard sport watch. The manufacturer explicitly states it has an "ordinary waterproof level," suitable only for rain or hand washing. You cannot shower with it or swim in it because the internal components are exposed to moisture risks. At 192 grams, it is significantly heavier than traditional watches, which might feel cumbersome during intense workouts. The touch controls and gold-plated pins require maintenance; sweat and oil can eventually interfere with the charging contact between the earbuds and the watch band, requiring regular cleaning to ensure they power up correctly. This product is ideal for casual wearers, office workers, and parents looking for a gift that offers high utility, but it is not designed for heavy aquatic sports or high-intensity gym sessions where sweat resistance is critical.
In stark contrast to the complex Desong Watch, the YouthWhisper Bone Conduction Headphones embrace simplicity and safety. Their defining feature is the open-ear design, which utilizes advanced bone conduction technology to transmit sound waves directly to the inner ear by vibrating the temporal bone. This leaves the ear canal completely free, ensuring hygiene and protecting the eardrum from damage caused by prolonged insertion of traditional buds. For anyone engaging in outdoor activities like running, cycling, or fishing, this design is non-negotiable. It allows you to hear traffic, pedestrians, and environmental cues while still enjoying your music or taking calls, effectively solving the safety dilemma of wearing noise-canceling gear. This makes them a top contender for kids headphones for airplane travel when the goal is keeping children entertained but still aware of announcements, though their primary domain remains outdoor safety.
The physical design prioritizes weight and comfort above all else. Weighing only 25 grams, the headphones are nearly weightless on the head. They feature a flexible titanium headband that reduces pressure on the ears, allowing for all-day wear without fatigue. The secure fit ensures they stay firmly in place even during vigorous movement, thanks to an ergonomic shape that locks onto the skull. Connectivity is handled via Bluetooth 5.0, supporting multi-point connection so you can seamlessly switch between two devices, such as a phone and a tablet, without re-pairing. The battery life is impressive for this class of device, offering six hours of continuous music playback or eight hours of phone calls, with a standby time that stretches to 480 hours (20 days).
Water resistance is another key area where YouthWhisper excels. Rated IP54 (and described as IP65 resistant in some contexts), these headphones are fully protected against sweat and light rain. You can push through an intense workout or a sudden downpour without worrying about damaging the electronics. The audio driver covers a frequency range of 20Hz to 20,000Hz, delivering clear sound despite the open-ear nature. However, there is a trade-off: because they do not seal the ear canal, bass response is naturally different from traditional headphones, and they offer no passive noise isolation. If you are in a very loud environment, like a busy subway or a noisy office, you might struggle to hear the audio clearly without cranking the volume. This product is perfect for athletes, commuters, and anyone who values situational awareness over immersive silence.

• Best for standalone music → Desong Watch: Features 128MB internal memory to play music without a phone, a capability the YouthWhisper headphones lack.

• Best for call quality in motion → YouthWhisper Bone Conduction Headphones: Dedicated microphone and stable Bluetooth 5.0 connection optimized for hands-free use during exercise.
• Best for tech enthusiasts → Desong Watch: Appeals to those who love gadgets with unique storage solutions and integrated hardware.
After weighing the specifications and real-world use cases, I would choose the YouthWhisper Bone Conduction Headphones. While the Desong Watch is an ingenious piece of engineering that solves the problem of carrying multiple devices, its weight, water resistance limitations, and complex charging mechanism make it a niche gadget rather than a reliable daily tool. The YouthWhisper headphones, however, solve a fundamental problem for active people: how to enjoy audio safely outdoors. The 25g weight and open-ear design provide a comfort and safety profile that is unmatched for runners, cyclists, and travelers. Whether you are navigating a busy airport terminal or running through a park, the ability to hear your surroundings while listening to music is a game-changer. For a trip for airplane, I prefer the YouthWhisper model because it is safer to wear in a moving vehicle and more comfortable for extended periods of travel without the bulk of a watch on your wrist.
No, the Desong Watch is not designed for swimming. The manufacturer specifies it has an ordinary waterproof level suitable only for rain or hand washing, and advises against showering or immersing it in water due to the risk of damaging the internal electronics.
Yes, the YouthWhisper headphones are designed with an IP54/IP65 rating to resist sweat and light rain. While they do not block wind noise entirely due to the open-ear design, the secure fit and durable titanium headband ensure they stay in place during windy workouts.
Yes, the Desong Watch includes 128MB of internal memory, allowing you to transfer music from a PC to the watch and play it independently without needing a Bluetooth connection to a smartphone.
For a child's first set, the YouthWhisper headphones are generally safer due to the open-ear design preventing hearing damage and allowing awareness of the environment, whereas the Desong Watch is a heavier, more complex device better suited for older users or specific tech-focused needs.
