SCIBA Honor Band

What: SCIBA Honor Band

Who:

• Anyone who wants to audition and has NOT been accepted into All-State Honor Band
• Limit of 15 9/10 grade students and 11/12 grade students

When:

• Auditions: November 29, 2018
• Festival: January 5, 2019

Where:

• Auditions: Roosevelt HS
• Festival: Ankeny HS

How:

• Fees paid for by EHS Bands.
• Registrations due by October 26, 2018

Audition Information

• Audition Etudes – Wind player etudes will be the first half of the 2018 IHSMA All-State etudes. All-State etudes: http://ihsma.org/all-state-audition-information-2018/ - etudes
• Scales – 3 major scales, two of the auditor’s choice, one of the student’s choice. Scales must be from memory using the same articulation and tempo that the All-State auditions require. The chromatic scale will also be heard.
• No solo will be used in the audition.
• Percussion –
  • Students will perform the first half of each of the timpani and snare etudes, as well as the last portion of the mallet etude (7/16 time/measure 35 to the end), as well as their chromatic scale, their multiple bounce roll, and their double stroke roll as dictated by the All-State procedures.
  • Solo, glissando timpani roll, crash cymbal & tambourine WILL NOT be part of the SCIBA audition.
  • Students will be required to tune the timpani to the pitches required for performance of the timpani etude.
