I am having the same issue. In my environment, if I am watching a Youtube video, whether or not I have other Youtube tabs open, another video, not from the tabs I have open, starts playing in the background. Then I have to pause the video I am watching and go into the Media controls to close that second video playing.

I am trying to find a way to set a video as my desktop background, and possibly in the future some kind of image stream from a web url. I was thinking that I would try and do this with Python just because it is easy to write. I followed this answer and found a way to set my desktop background to an image from NASA's image of the day API. This worked and so I wanted to test out if I could actually set it many times and get a video. So I also used this answer to get each frame of the sample video and save them. Then I used a while loop to continuously set my desktop background about 20 times per second:

Is there even a way to do this in Python or will I have to do it in C# or another language more suited to interface with Windows? I know that there is a better way to do this because the performance of this method seems to not be great, and applications like WallpaperEngine and VLC media player can display videos and other things as desktop backgrounds while not using as many resources. Any help is appreciated.

I am facing the same issue in android for over a month now. Whenever I open youtube the audio starts playing in the background. I searched for #global-media-controls but it was not there in brave://flags and that is why I am not able to proceed so please let me know what is the solution in android.

How can I set this broadcast (or better, somehow obtain a periodic screen-cap of the feed) to become my desktop background? So that everyone benefits, solutions for Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows are desired.

For folks with multiple monitors, Lively lets you set different backgrounds for each display. Click the Active Wallpapers button at the top, then make sure Selected screen only is highlighted to avoid any unwanted wallpaper stretching. You should also check off Always pick screen when choosing wallpaper, which brings up a monitor selector whenever you pick a new background.

By default, website backgrounds will respond to mouse input, but not keyboard controls. To enable the keyboard or disable mouse input, head to Settings (š™) > Wallpaper. Note that enabling the keyboard will also hide your desktop icons.

The app also supports setting videos as wallpapers. Sites like Pexels and Pixabay offer looping videos that work well as desktop backgrounds, and if you choose Customize in Lively, you can adjust the playback speed, colors, and saturation.

I am trying to deploy a desktop background image to all our machines, currently I know how to push an image to our machines and how to set and lock the image as the background using a configuration profile, but the issue I'm having with this is it doesn't scale the image on our devices. I would also like to burn the users device name with our IT helpdesk information onto the background if possible.

I have discovered a tool called desktoppr can do this but I can't quite find instructions for how I can install this to our jamf instance and set it up.

Would anyone be able to let me know the steps I need to take to install this or another tool which can do this, and a script to set the background, scale the image and burn the device information with some info text that would be great?

Hi jsim

I tried that way originally but it didn't work great for us as it deploys the image too big cutting a lot of information out of the screen. I have now managed to deploy desktoppr and have found a way to scale the image down to the correct size using the desktoppr scale fit command on our devices.

We are using Revolution Slider on this website: and the background video that has always worked, is not showing. Not even showing the thumbnail just a blank white screen until you scroll past it. Please help!

This seems to be a specific Webflow problem. I had my customer test other sites with autoplay background videos. All of them worked. I also let her test other Webflow sites with background videos and none have played.

One reason for this might be that setting GIF as desktop wallpaper can impact system performance, causing the computer to run slower or experience lag. Additionally, using GIFs as desktop wallpaper may consume more battery power, affecting the battery life of laptops.

Therefore, Microsoft decided to remove this feature to enhance system stability and performance. However, some third-party software provides the function of setting GIF as desktop wallpaper. If you want to use GIFs as your desktop wallpaper, you can consider using these software programs.

This software allows you to set animated wallpapers, including GIF images, on your Windows desktop. You can upload any GIF you find on the Internet, or make your own, and make these GIFs your Windows desktop wallpaper with this software!

That's it! Your GIF should now be playing as your desktop background. If you want to change or remove the GIF later, simply open Lively Wallpaper and select the wallpaper you want to modify or remove.

Unfortunately, Windows 10 does not natively support the use of animated desktop wallpaper. However, many third-party options are available to safely customize your background without having to sacrifice any CPU resources or spend a large amount of money.

After downloading and installing the VLC Media Player, launch the application and find a video you want to set as your desktop background. We recommend finding an endless loop from one of the following sources:

If, however, you really want an eye-catching desktop background, then selecting a shorter clip would be more appropriate, especially if it's something that will be striking when looped. Video clips and GIFs can both be used.

Begin by heading to the site and downloading PUSH Video Wallpaper. Run the EXE file to install, and then launch the app. Instantaneously, your desktop background will be transformed as the app runs, displaying a demo video clip on a loop.

The result is a smooth, full-screen desktop video wallpaper background, with app windows and icons sitting in the foreground. PUSH Video Wallpaper is a great option to set a video as your Windows desktop background.

A fourth option is for Windows 10 which uses a tool available from the Windows Store. Desktop Live Wallpaper+ puts you in full control of the images, GIFs, and videos that play on your desktop background.

Our last method on this list for running a video wallpaper on Windows is DeskScape from StarDock, a premium desktop customization app that lets you change your wallpapers and screensavers for a more fulfilling user experience. While this app is not available for free, it does come with a free 30-day trial.

As you can see, you can choose to pick up your wallpapers either from your PC locally or straight from the internet. To set up a video wallpaper, switch to the Online tab, select any video wallpaper of your liking and click on Download this background. After the download is complete, switch to the Local tab and select the Downloaded folder from the Animated section of your app.

Another way to create a desktop background video is through the most versatile of desktop media players, the VLC media player. Available from VideoLAN.org, the VLC media player is available for all operating systems.

It might be possible, though, that the VLC solution may not suit you. Although the video goes into full-screen mode, and you can still access your Windows toolbar and Start button, desktop icons and shortcuts are still missing.

If the results from the VLC media player don't meet your requirements, there are various alternatives of varying complexity. Your best option is probably YouTube, which again will work with Windows 10, macOS, Linux, and Chrome OS.

The video then becomes the background. Note that again in this scenario, it is not a true desktop background as there are no desktop icons and shortcuts. Hit Esc to exit the full-screen view.

You probably know of various ways to customize your desktop, from simply changing the background picture to moving the taskbar. But adding a video as the desktop background is the final stage of customization.

In Colors, you can let Windows pull an accent color from your background, or choose your own color adventure. After you've selected an accent color, scroll down to indicate where you want to see the color show up. Or scroll up to Choose your mode and you can see whether your accent color looks better in a Dark or Light mode.

Since I downloaded a boatload of backgrounds for my stream to cycle through randomly I have amassed a bit of a collection- many are abstract, fractal or just nice to look at, nothing too busy. I also change my keyboard colours to match too!

This has been my background for about six years now. Zdzislaw Beskinksi was an amazing, untrained artist, and he made some of the most surreal, unnerving, and well done painting I've ever seen. How he did it, I really don't know. But he said that he would have horrible dreams, and wake up and painted what he saw. And judging by his paintings, I believe him.

My current background. Many years ago, I saved a bunch of sci-fi images from DeviantArt that would make for nice backgrounds and inspiration for Doom levels or levels for other games. This one I liked especially, because it's a sci-fi base in the midst of a mountain range. I love the whites and blues here, and it'd be great to have a Doom level that'd explore what this base would look like on the inside. :D

You might not have realized the depth of personalization available in Windows. One of the more exciting features is the ability to apply live wallpapers. Rather than a static image, you can see a moving video as your desktop background instead. e24fc04721
