Privacy Policy

Desk Neck · Last updated: 22 June 2026

Desk Neck is built to respect your privacy completely. It collects no personal data, requires no account, and processes everything on your Mac. This policy explains exactly what that means.

The short version

Information we collect

None. Desk Neck does not collect any personal information, usage analytics, identifiers, or diagnostics. We have no servers that receive data from the app, and we cannot see how you use it.

Motion data

To detect when you slouch, Desk Neck reads head-motion data from compatible AirPods using Apple's CMHeadphoneMotionManager (the "Motion & Fitness" permission). This data is used in real time, entirely on your Mac, purely to estimate your head angle and decide whether to remind you to sit up.

This motion data is never recorded, stored, uploaded, shared, or sold. It exists only momentarily in memory while the app is running and is discarded immediately after it is processed.

Information stored on your device

Desk Neck saves your preferences locally on your Mac (using the standard macOS user-defaults system) so the app remembers your settings between launches. This includes things like your chosen sensitivity, alert options, calibrated posture baseline, and a daily reminder count. This information stays on your Mac, is never sent anywhere, and is removed if you delete the app.

What we never do

Third-party services

Desk Neck does not integrate any third-party services, advertising networks, or analytics providers. The only company involved is Apple, which distributes the app through the App Store and provides the operating-system frameworks the app runs on, under Apple's own Privacy Policy.

Children's privacy

Desk Neck is suitable for all ages and does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.

Data security

Because Desk Neck does not collect or transmit data, there is no personal data for us to lose, leak, or expose. Your information never leaves your device.

Your rights

Since we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, export, or delete on our side. You remain in full control: deleting the app removes all of its locally stored preferences from your Mac.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Desk Neck after a change means you accept the updated policy.
