Disrupting Synth Clarity Choreography by Desirée James
Disrupting Synth Clarity is a process that investigates the blurred boundaries between reality and fantasy, where the familiar becomes uncanny, and time itself stretches and compresses.
The process explores a playful irony that amplifies the uncanny and invokes the idea of the multiplicity of selves. Using disorientation as a threshold between clarity and confusion, the body becomes masked, at times concealed or merged with objects, blurring the distinction between subject and environment. This fragmentation of reality amplifies the ambiguity of identity and presence, heightening the experience of being in-between, caught in spaces where identities dissolve and the surreal takes over.
The audience is invited to question what is real and imagined, evoking a sense of liminality where the familiar becomes strange, and the strange becomes a pathway to discovery. This journey offers a glimpse into a world where the boundaries of self, time, and space are fluid and uncertain.
