Desi Open 2017

Year Summary

The 2017 Desi Open Championship is in the books and we have a new Champion.

Congratulations Srinivas Nandipati - Champion Golfer of the Year 2017.

Nandipati started playing just a couple of years ago, has become an avid golfer and improved tremendously. He managed the tough Dubsdread very well to secure the victory with an EVEN PAR score.

We are glad to see second place winner Prasad Rao join us this year. He was tied for the top spot at the end of two rounds with 5 under first round. He finished with +5. Congratulations!

Atul Bharadwaj and Satish Nallagatla tied for the third place with +9. Atul's long and accurate drives and Nallagatla's short game skills are admirable. Congratulations to both of you.

To round up the top 5 spots, Sunkara and Guntaka tied for the 5th place with +10.

Sridhar's even par performance on the formidable Dubsdread is definitely worth a special mention. He is the only one to shoot even par in the final round. Atul beat Sunkara by a couple of inches to win the Par 3 Closest to the Pin contest on Ravines 14th hole.

Honors for low raw score of the tournament goes to Ashok Sunkara with 246. To round up the remaining top five low scorers: Manik (252), Vijay (253), Ravi (259) and, Guntaka & Atul (262). Manik (41.7%), Vijay (39.8%), Pratap (28.2%), Atul (24.5%) and Ravi (24.2) have improved their handicap the most, from last year.

A big thank you to Satish Kodukula for all the help in organizing this year's tournament. The setup at 3 Corners was awesome and everyone enjoyed it very much. The 10th Playing of the Desi Open Championship at the historic Cog Hill Golf and Country Club will be an unforgettable event. Thank you all for competing in the friendly competition.
