Greater Kuala Lumpur (KL) has undergone rapid urbanization in an endeavor to transform the Malaysia's capital city into a livable, smart metropolis as well as a thriving metropolitan area. However, as a result of rapid urbanization in attaining this goal, Kuala Lumpur has experienced a weakening of identity and sense of place due to the detrimental impact on the urban public space. This raises the concern of whether the current development can actually help to alleviate urban problems such as lack of livability and the need to foster community engagement. Hence, there is a need to address the issue of placelessness through the injection of the creative placemaking into the urban fabric. The research aims to explore the potential of urban regeneration through the assimilation of creative placemaking to the design realm in creating a unique sense of place and identity to the Kuala Lumpur’s developing urban fabric. This intervention aimed to elevate the human-centric activity and promote community engagement through the cultural hub that specializes in the uplifting the creative industry and cultural program that also serve as a cultural tourism spot for both local and tourist.
