My designs are inspired by the sights, sounds and smells I experience during walks in the Cornish countryside and beaches.
I am fairly new to jewellery making, as prior to taking early retirement and moving to Cornwall with my husband, Keith and rescue dog Peggy, I was the Digital Communications Manager for a large retail company. I have always been passionate about jewellery and it was on one of my daily walks with Peggy that I got my first idea for a design.
The light was amazing on that particular day and as I walked along one of the many country lanes near Downderry where the hedgerows were full of wild flowers, my eyes moved to the rolling hills of the Cornish countryside with the moors in the distance and I couldn't help but be inspired. But I get most of my inspiration from the sea which constantly changes, one day it may be calm and silent and an amazing blue colour and the next there are grey and white crashing waves on the beach.
When I first started designing and crafting pieces, I only intended to make them for myself and as presents for friends. Then one day I was asked where I had bought the bracelet I was wearing and my little hand crafting business by the sea began.
There are so many different materials and techniques that can be used in hand crafting pieces and the jewellery collections I create are evolving as I discover new ways of working with natural semi precious stone beads and metals.
