The teacher training includes a treasure hunt activity that was designed to be experienced in an online setting. While a treasure hunt in a physical environment immerses the participant in the actual physical surroundings in the real world, in an online setting, a virtual world needs to be created to immerse learners and engage them throughout the activity.
Gamification elements of story, narrative, characters, challenge, and mystery were used to create this virtual world using Google Forms.
Treasure Hunt 1: In the first version of the training, the treasure hunt mainly utilizes CT based problems drawing from math content as clues towards finding the treasure.
Treasure Hunt 2: In the second version of the training, the Treasure Hunt has been completely redesigned to include clues aligned to various subjects such as English Language, Science, History, and Math. The clues also include links to relevant subject content as hints that would help in solving the clue.
All gamification elements including story, narrative, characters, mystery, and challenge have been redesigned.
