PROJECT
PROJECT
This was an individual part of our project. We have come up with 14 problem statements each, or 84 problem statements in total. We have prepared two problem statements every day a set of 14 problem statements. The set of problem statements had the following:
There should be 5 within the scope of urban life
There should be 5 within the scope of personally relatable problems
There should be 3 ways to address global problems
There should be 5 within the scope of rural life
There should be 1 helping the disabled population
There should be 3 within the scope of childhood, childcare, parenting, etc.
There can be a maximum of 5 business ideas
There can be a maximum of 5 problems addressing issues with college life.
We have made an Excel sheet as a group. Which has all 84 problem statements and gave marks for each problem statement based on the following criteria as a group.
Is it clear?
Is it specific?
Is it user-centric?
Is it measurable?
Is it relevant?
Is it feasible?
Is it impactful?
Is it solution-agnostic?
And we gave all the above points one mark for following the first 7 criteria and 2 marks for solution-agnostic, as it was an important thing to have for a problem statement.
Then we chose one problem statement for each team member based on the marks and discussed it with our mentor Raj Narayanan sir.
This week we have researched our Individual problem statements that we have chosen to work on in the previous week 6 in total.
We have achieved this by creating online forms and taking a few surveys the surveys were created in such a way that the form contains a hypothetical story based on the problem statement and contains questions followed by the story. These surveys helped us get a perspective of the victim about the problem statements. this helped us to fill the gaps of knowledge about the problem statement. and we have also done research online. And with the help of all of these, we have refined our problem statements.
From our research and surveys on our Individually chosen problem statements. Analyzing them all together as a team with our mentor, Raj Narayanan sir we have chosen one problem statement from the 6 problem statements. Which was "Online Risks Faced by Children" from the refined problem statement and research knowledge on the problem statement.
Refined Problem Statement: "Children are exposed to online risks like their privacy being compromised or getting exposed to harmful content. This not only affects their safety but also their emotional well-being. To tackle this issue, we need an approach to promote a secure and enriching digital environment for children. So that they can grow with the digital world by not sacrificing their personal information and mental health."
To showcase the "Problem" we have been working on. We have created an A3-sized poster (3508px X 4961px) that communicates this problem to a general audience, utilizing a blend of visuals and text for easy understanding of the general audience within five minutes.
The poster contains pictures, graphs, and text. to effectively articulate the problem. and also had a name plate with our team's name, members’ names along with roll numbers, and an email ID for feedback collection.
We kept in mind that this poster may be publicly displayed, making it essential to ensure all content is appropriate and solely our team’s responsibility.
We consider this an opportunity to present the depth of our engagement with our chosen problem and to gather insightful feedback.
We have learned about Root cause analysis and about 6-3-5 rules.
How can they help us in finding the solution for our problem statement?
Root cause analysis is the process of finding the source cause of the problem. we do this by taking our problem statement and asking ourselves, why this is happening and write them as nodes of problem statement and take those nodes ask why it's happening. like this, we made nodes until we felt there was no reason why that problem happening or until we reached the fifth layer. from this we found all the source problem for our main problem.
6-3-5 Rule comes after the root cause analysis, we take all the end problems of branches and apply 6-3-5 rules on them.
In taking the Clearly stated problem Set the timer for 5 minutes per round. Each participant silently writes down three ideas in the first row. Pass the papers After the time is up, pass the sheets clockwise to the next person. Build on Ideas Now, the participant sees the ideas from the previous person. write a new idea unrelated to the previous ones. Fill the paper by repeating this process. Each participant will have their sheet back 5 times, resulting in 5 rounds of adding new ideas.
We analyzed all 1260 solutions we have got from the 635 rule and applied DFV (Desirability, Feasibility, and Viability) to those solutions. It is used in design thinking to evaluate ideas and ensure they have the potential for success.
Desirability This focuses on whether there's a genuine need or want for your idea in the market.
Feasibility This considers the technical and practical aspects of bringing your idea to life.
Viability This looks at the business side of things and assesses if your idea can be profitable and sustainable in the long run.
Why is DFV important?
By considering all three aspects of DFV, you can increase your chances of developing a successful product or service. Here's why:
Easy Decision Making: It provides a structured approach to evaluating ideas and making informed decisions.
We categorize all the DFV statements into three sets. To convert the detailed list of actions into three sets, we categorized the individual actions into broader themes based on their similarities and core objectives.

The Lean Canvas is a one-page business model template specifically designed for startups. The Lean Canvas focuses on nine key elements: the problem you solve, your target customer, your unique selling proposition, the solution you offer, how you'll reach customers, how you'll make money, your cost structure, key metrics for success, and your competitive advantage. By condensing everything onto one page.
