Nowadays, representation and diversity is a hot topic. Whether it's TikTok or your US History class, different cultures are working towards proper representation and recognition in the American society. Many, including the Indian Culture, have made a nice space for their cultures to be recognized. But are these represented parts proper? Are they authentic?
You must have heard of "Chai latte" at Starbucks, which is tea (very Asian) but with some western latte touch! I can bet you have never had an authentic Indian chai, or any South Asian Drink in that matter, even at that Indian restaurant you went to last weekend!
Therefore, we exist. You and I, have solely been introduced to one side of Indian culture, or any other culture in general, which has been greatly westernized. If America encourages diversity, I feel like it should know the authentic side of a culture rather than the westernized version of a culture. Don't you think?
