Descent Policy

This policy explains how data is processed when you play the mobile game "Descent" (package: com.visionbyte.descent).

2. Principle

Descent works without an account, registration, or any personal details. We collect as little data as possible.

3. Data stored locally

Game progress, settings, unlocked content and the local leaderboard are stored only on your device. They never leave your device and can be deleted at any time via "Reset progress" in the settings or by uninstalling the app.

4. Online leaderboard (Firebase)

When you set a new personal best, the app uploads: your self-chosen player name, score, depth, gems, a timestamp, and a randomly generated anonymous player ID (not a device or advertising ID). These entries are publicly visible to other players worldwide. Please don't use your real name if you don't want to be identifiable.

Data is stored in Google Firebase Realtime Database (Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (providing the leaderboard feature) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a functioning ranking). Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Deletion: your leaderboard entry will be removed on request via the email above (please include your player name and approximate score).

5. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app is ad-supported. Rewarded ads (e.g., "watch an ad to continue") are served by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). In this process Google processes, among others: your device's Advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from it, device information, and ad interactions.

Where legally required (e.g., in the EEA), personalized advertising is only shown with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR); otherwise non-personalized ads are served (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can limit ad personalization in your device settings (Android: Settings → Google → Ads → delete/reset Advertising ID). More from Google: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads

6. Nothing else is collected

No analytics tools, no social plugins, no access to contacts, photos, GPS location or other sensitive permissions.

7. International transfers

Where Google processes data in the USA, transfers rely on the EU Commission's adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and, where applicable, Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. Retention

Local data remains on your device until you delete it. Leaderboard entries remain until replaced by your own better run or deleted upon request. Ad-related data is subject to Google's retention periods.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). You may withdraw any consent at any time with future effect, and you may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. To exercise your rights, an email to the address above is sufficient.

10. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Parents who believe their child provided us data may contact the email above.

11. Changes

We may update this policy when the app's features or legal requirements change. The current version is always available at this URL.
