Let's get social:
Derron Ellies is a prolific young Steelpannist from Trinidad and Tobago. He began playing pan in his native town of Manzanilla in the island of Trinidad in 1993, at ten years of age. By the time he was twelve, he could play all the instruments in the Manzanilla Police Youth Club's steel orchestra.
From 1995 he attended Queen's Royal College, where he spent the next seven years honing his skills and knowledge under the guidance of music teachers John Rajah and Kerry Roebuck, as well as leaders of the QRC Scout Band and Magnum Bands.
After graduating from the College, music was among the three distinctions of nine CXC passes that he received. He followed his passion to be engaged in music full time and attended The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus at the then Centre for Creative & Festival Arts in UWI St Augustine in 2003, and obtained a certificate in music two years later.
Throughout his twenty-two years of active music involvement, he has performed for presidents, diplomats, sporting stars and ambassadors both locally, regionally and internationally. He has performed across continents and in several countries of the world such as India, China, England, The United States and the Caribbean. His repertoire is expansive as he has been recorded live and has been a guest performer on several albums across many genres. See his current performance activity below:
