OUR STORY
OUR STORY
Hi! I am Anastasiia, the 14 year old founder of Initiative Dermawareness Youth!
Made by youth, made for youth.
Growing up, I started to notice how much a skin condition could affect the way children and teens mostly felt about themselves. Acne, eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo, and other visible skin concerns were often treated as something embarrassing in schools, and the outside world, even though they are a completely normal part of growing up.
Social media, beauty standards, teasing, and misinformation can make young people feel like they need perfect skin to be confident or accepted. I once fell into that trap as well.
These experiences inspired the creation of Dermawareness Youth. I wanted to build a youth-led organization where children and teens could find reliable skin-health information, feel supported, confident and understand that their appearance does not determine their worth.
Dermawareness Youth now works to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and create meaningful projects for young people, for pediatric dermatology clinics, hospitals dealing with skin conditions and especially those in underserved and marginalized communities.
Our goal is to help every child and teen feel informed, included, and confident in their skin.
Our mission is to empower children and teens through accessible skin-health education, sun-safety awareness, confidence-building support, and youth-led community projects.
We work to challenge stigma, teasing, misinformation, and unrealistic beauty standards surrounding acne, eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo, and other visible skin conditions. Through educational content, SkinKind Kits, advocacy, and partnerships with pediatric dermatology clinics, hospitals, schools, community organizations, and brands, we aim to support young people especially those in underserved and marginalized communities.
Our vision is a future where every child and teen feels informed, respected, protected, and confident in their skin.
We envision communities where visible skin conditions are understood rather than stigmatized, reliable skin-health and sun-safety resources are accessible to everyone, and young people no longer feel pressured to meet unrealistic beauty standards. We hope to grow a lasting network of youth leaders, healthcare partners, schools, community organizations, and brands working together to make support and education available to those who need it most.
