As the team moves forward with the Project, advisor feedback has been critical. The team improvised off of initial concept design criticism in Phase 1 and placed a large emphasis on "simple yet effective". The team has since recreated concept designs to better work towards our goal of measuring skin stiffness and deformation in an innovative way. Utilizing obscure cup shapes for our negative pressure system has been able to offer unique feedback during simulation trails.
The team also had to model skin during this Phase in efforts to get ideal Pressure read-outs for the desired deformation. Pictured above was the Solidworks model of the skin under uniform point pressures to simulate a vacuum placing stress on the skin. Depending on tube diameter and probe shape, the ideal Pressure created ranged from 2.7kPa to 8kPa. Example Probe Designs shown below!
