The Department of Zoology, AV college of Arts Science & Commerce seeks to serve BSc Programme students interested in careers related to Zoology. The department offers Zoology in only one combination i.e. B.Z.C of BSc programme To inspire knowledge across diverse fields of Zoology.
To know the life cycles and mode of reproduction in members of fauna.
To develop Entrepreneur from our students accordingly subjects like Sericulture, Apiculture, Aquaculture, have been included.
To equip our students with good quality to appear for competitive examinations, To make the students understand the needs of Zoology in shaping our planet.
To empower our students with practical skills to comprehend the Physiology and other functions of each and every vital system
PROGRAMME OUTCOME
PO1 - Students gain knowledge and skill in the fundamentals of animal sciences, understand the complex interactions among various living organisms
PO2 – Analysis complex interactions among the various animals of different phyla and their distribution ,their relationship with the environment
PO3 – Apply the knowledge of the internal structure of a cell, its functions in control of various metabolic functions of organisms.

PSO1. Understand the nature and basic concepts of cell biology, genetics, taxonomy, physiology, ecology and applied Zoology
PSO2. Analyze the relationships among animals, plants and microbes
PSO3. Perform procedures as per laboratory standards in the areas of Taxonomy, Physiology, Ecology, Cell biology, Genetics, Applied Zoology, Clinical science, tools and techniques of Zoology, Toxicology, Entomology, Nematology Sericulture, Biochemistry, Fish biology, Animal biotechnology, Immunology and Research methodology
PSO4. Understand the applications of biological sciences in Apiculture, Aquaculture, Vermiculture , Agriculture and Medicine
PSO5. Gains knowledge about Research methodology, effective communication and skills of problem solving methods

It is an agro based cottage industry in India that enables them to get self-employment
Apiculture is practice of rearing the Honey bees
SEM – 2 Public Health and Hygiene / Medical Diagonists
To provide Awareness among the students for their health and hygiene by adopting good habits in their lifestyle , to reduce risk of diseases

The population has reached its peak especially in our country such efforts like (poultry and Animal Husbandry) to meet food demand
Animal husbandry helps in the proper management of animals by providing proper food, shelter,and protect against diseases
Vermicomposting have excellent nutrient rich organic fertilizer also used in sewage treatment
SEM – 4 Biomaterials from Animal Sources / Aquaculture / Fish Keeping
Biomaterial are obtain from animals like Collagen,Gelatin ,Silk,Fibrin…..etc
Aquaculture provide knowledge about breeding,raising and harvesting of fish population
Provide information how to maintain an Aquarium which gives a great Fun and relaxation to mind
