At the dawn of the taking movies, three failing vaudeville performers decide that Hollywood is the place to make their future. They plan to set up an elocution school for former silent movie stars. They meet a gossip columnist who sets them up to meet a famous studio owner who hires them on the spot. One of them, George, accidentally gets the studio owner to think he's brilliant. He is hired to direct a movie. The other two meet all sorts of Hollywood characters, get fired, are rehired when George accidentally makes the next Hollywood hit with the wrong script.
