The aim of this research is to understand the environmental effectiveness of the solid waste management in Antique National School (with the exception of construction and demolition waste). Only a limited number of studies were found to evaluate school effectiveness of the waste management.
Using a structured, self-administered questionnaire which consists of eight (8) questions were able to distribute to our thirty (30) respondents, twenty (20) student, five (5) school faculties and five (5) employees which are from Antique National School. The study showed that the students were obviously aware of concerns with waste and waste management practices in their schools and local environment. It was also apparent the school students had an acute awareness that poor waste management would have a negative impact on the country as well as on them as the individual. This prominent awareness was however not evident in the student’s waste management practices. Good waste management practices activities were minimal at both the school and home environment. Since school students are seen as one of the key agent of change to work towards a more sustainable future, they should be engaged as young as possible and given a quality array of continuous learning to improve their knowledge on environmental problems such as poor waste management. Improved knowledge would contribute to improved environmental awareness and a pro-environmental attitude.

AN ASSESSMENT OF THE PHILOSOPHY, PEDAGOGY, SYSTEM AND PROCESS OF COLLEGE ADMISSION TEST
AUTHOR: CORAZON C. TINGSON
Statement of the Problem
Main Problem:
This researcher wishes to asses the present admission test in the College of Arts and Sciences, Center for Research and Communication.
Sub Problem:
1. How valid and adequate is the college admission test in the section of freshmen students in the Arts and Sciences?
2. What is the reliability coefficient of the test, based on the three-year results and the General Weighted Average in each semester?
3. How does the test discriminate between province-based and Manila-based students?
4. How effective and significant is the college admission test in predicting academic performance and success?
5. What are the different adjustment difficulties of freshmen towards college life?
Procedure
This study made use of the descriptive method of research. The technique utilized encompassed regression techniques which elicited all possible correlations desired in the determination of the predictive validity of the variables being investigated. It also employed two sampling technique such as simple random sampling for present freshmen students S.Y. 1994-1995 as questionnaire respondents and multi-stage sampling for students enrolled in the previous school years.
Treatment of the Data
The study adopted the frequency distribution percentage and ranking method in the interpretation and analysis of data gathered from the questionnaire and interview. The comparison performance of High and Low Cabers was done using the T-test of significance.
Findings
1. Comprehensive Ability Battery Test can predict high mental aptitude of students.
2. There is a positive correlation of CAB results and GWA for three succeeding school year.
3. There is no significant difference as to CAB results of Manila A-1 and non A-1. This proved that students who belonged to non A-1 school are really members of the top ten and are good students.
4. There is no significant difference of CAB results and GWA of Manila and Provincial-based students. One possible reasons for this is that students from the provinces have come from the very good schools of their regions, are members of the Top Ten, and have passed several screening tests.
5. There id a significant difference between GWA of students who belong to the high or upper cabers compared to low cabers. This proved that once an entrant belonged to the High or Upper Cabers, his GWA is absolutely high and there is a good sign of academic success. Therefore CAB, is a good tool in predicting academic success.
Conclusions
The Comprehensive Ability Battery Test is a reliable tool in measuring the academic performance of the students as reflected in their GWA. Therefore, there is a need to pursue the use of CAB as one gauge of the college entrance examination.
College admission test is a valid and adequate in the selection of freshmen students in the Arts and Sciences.
Recommendations
1. Conduct in-service trainings and programs for teachers in the secondary school in line with the development of teachers' knowledge in the teaching of Math since most of the applicants / entrants had the difficulty in their CAB results.
LGBT POLITICAL PARTICIPATION IN THE PROVINCE OF ANTIQUE
AUTHOR: SHARRAH MELARIE D. ALAGOS
This chapter aims to discuss the background of the study, the statement of the problem, the statement of the objectives, the significance of the study, the scope and delimitation of the research, the illustration of the conceptual framework and the definition of terms.
Political Participation refers to all forms of involvement in which citizens convey political opinion/ideas to political decision makers. Participation is one of the three indicators of democratic performance. It has been argued that 'Citizen Participation is at the heart of democracy' (Lamprianou, 2013). It is important because it represents the mechanisms that individuals use to pressure the government to respond to their interests. The notion of that people should be involved in the process of governing is central to the philosophy of democracy, explaining why some people participate in politics while others do not, is fundamental to our understanding. Both gender of male and female have entered the realm of Politics. Gender has always been a political issue worldwide, for questions of who/which gender is better, but the argument does not limit only with a man and a woman. Sexual orientation is another political issue that most political scientist argue. Such as, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender. Even before the Christian era, there third gender which is known as Homosexuality - defined as the act of being attracted with the same sex (Pobal,2006). Centuries before, homosexuality was banned in all sort of participation, discrimination level was similar with racism (Hughes, 2017). Religious groups/organizations considered these sexual orientations to be taboo. Throughout the years, many countries have embraced and accepted these kind of sexuality by implementing LGBT rights and promoting anti-discrimination programs in their country. Some states in America have been in favor of same sex marriage, giving the LGBT the equal rights and freedom as citizens. In other countries, LGBT people have experience extreme violence and employment discrimination before achieving the visibility, recognition and freedom in their country (Cline and Martz,2014).
Despite the overall social and sexual conservatism of the Filipino Culture. The Philippines is one of the more LGBT- friendly country in South-East Asia. However the state does not tolerate any act of homosexual relationship into a religious bond. For over centuries of colonial rule, homosexual and transgender exist in the Philippines. Hence, LGBT Filipinos often experience violence and discrimination because of their sexuality and gender identity. In terms of participation, every citizen of the Philippines including the LGBT people are covered by the Philippine Law as equal. Across the globe, many members of LGBT communities have engaged their selves in Politics. The involvement of LGBT individuals in a national assembly has proven to likely make more laws that heighten equality in a broad aspect including race and sexuality. The presence of LGBT politicians represent the group as a legitimate, visible and a mainstream interest group (Svensson, 2012). Several LGBT Filipinos have been active in participating politics and some have even won a seat in Congress. According to 'The Philippine Country Report' Filipinos who run an election under the banner of an LGBT platform did not win their elected posts. This explains why most LGBT representations are done with heterosexual allies. The capability of a person to participate politically is strongly influenced by its socioeconomic status and self-interest but the explanation for political participation holds on how individuals think they can make a difference in politics regardless of their gender identity, sexuality or race (Walder-Haugrud, 1992). However this research aims only to determine the current status of participation of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender in the aspect of politics.
There is a lack of researches about the political participation of LGBT people in the country. However, several researches of political participation did not explicitly mentioned the LGBT. In the Province of Antique - the researcher aims to define the political participation of the openly out LGBT. To know of what obstacles do they most encounter in participating and what motivates them from engaging in a political matter. Also, the researcher wants to determine the status of the LGBT participation in the state and the density of discrimination this minority group suffer.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PHILIPPINE NATIONAL POLICE PHYSICAL FITNESS AND SPORTS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (PFSDP): A PROCESS EVALUATION
AUTHOR: ROFFAH GONZALES, JENNIFER RIZARDO, GWYNY HIPONIA, NIÑA MARIE CADIMAS, JEANETH ROSE MAGARSO
Background of the study
In the Philippine National Police (PNP) Memorandum Circular No.2014-011 signed by former Chief, PNP Alan La Madrid Purisima Police Director General states that the guidelines, procedures and schemes of the implementation of the PNP Physical Fitness and Sports Development Program (PFSDP) with emphasis on physical conditioning and combat sports aims to create a standard proficiency and a regular program of maintaining good health and developing the skills of the PNP.
The article Physical and Moral Fitness by Philippine Daily Inquirer (2012 June 16) states that "as an embodiments of law and order, police officers should project competence and capability whenever and wherever they are seen by the citizenry". The articles further less state that the police officers should not only be seen by the citizens on their crisp and tidy uniforms but also with a physically fit body.
Police Officers are the figurative representation of the law and they are obliged to be physically fit and active. An arising problem was seen by the society for some of the Police Officers are overweight and obese. Crisp and tidy uniform does not guarantee the efficiency of the response to a combative situation by a law enforcer. The public does not think that they are capable to engage in a combative situation to arrest a resisting subject because of the physical aspect was conducted.
The study would take place at the Bugante point San Jose, Antique which is also included in the nationwide implementation of the Physical Fitness and Sports Development Program of the Philippine National Police. It is also the home of the credible, effective and capable Mamang Pulis and Aleng Pulis of the Province of Antique. The assigned police officer in Police Regional Office 6 (PRO 6) is designated at the Bugante Point, San Jose Antique.

ARDUINO-BASED VERTICAL FARMING AUTOMATIC IRRIGATION SYSTEM
AUTHOR: WRYNZ DALE R. SUMANDE, KENT JOASH A. ZAMUDIO, JUAN FELIXBERTO R. GELIG, EUBERT RENZ S. ACUISA
Food is one of our basic necessity in order to live. As we become an urban specie, more agricultural lands are converted into commercial buildings which results to higher cost of food. In response, we tend to build small scale gardens in our backyards or in free spaces in our homes despite our busy schedule in order to save money. The researchers designed and developed an automatic irrigation system which would aid home growers to be able to do their everyday task and at the same time save money. The system automatically waters the plants when it senses that the soil is dry, and it automatically turns the water pumps off when there is enough amount of water.
Arduino Uno microcontroller board was used as the main control for the said system. Instead of water level sensor, the researchers used ultrasonic sensor to monitor the water level in the reservoir. LED were used to indicate the water level and piezoelectric speaker was used to alert the owner when the water in the tank is low.
Tests were done to ensure the efficiency of the said system. After the collection of data, it was established that the pumps are maximized when it is placed higher than the plant box. Moreover, the readings of ultrasonic sensor varies when measuring solid and water. The said system works efficiently and reliably when it is supplied with a 5 volts power. The irrigation system is a stand-alone which means that it can operate with no or minimum manual intervention. Moreover, the system conserves more water compared to traditional irrigation technique.
The researchers recommends that the water reservoir should be connected to the main water source. The modification and replacement of the devices in the system is also recommended to increase its efficiency. Furthermore, more tests should be done in the said system to prolong its usage.

Do teenagers do not really need that much compared to the past years? Do teenagers prefer to read from nontraditional and underreported articles? What about teenagers who prefer most of the time online or digital readings if surveys should be book based? How about teenagers who prefer audiobooks? In the event that inquiries are just worried about writing, how are we tallying the many individuals who read verifiable, daily papers, magazines, and sites?
Today's teens may be reading just as much as teens in the past, but their methods and formats of reading are so different from the older generations now creating polls and studies that true levels of adolescent literacy leisure activities are not being captured. One way to address these questions and gain deeper understanding of new ways of reading is to study readers' preferred formats for reading. Do they prefer print books, e-books, or do they prefer to listen to audiobooks? Can they comprehend at the same level across all formats? Do they comprehend best when reading in their preferred format, or is there a format in which most teens comprehend best? Do teens report being more engaged or interested in leisure reading texts in one format over another? By knowing more about reading format choices and comprehension, self- reports of reading habits will increase validity and the questions can be tailored to reflect new developments in reading generations.

Antique National School, San Jose de Buenavista, Antique, Philippines
Finding a suitable vein in patients at hospitals is one of the hardest parts now a days for nurses and doctors. Accessing the veins in patients is necessary for treatment, administering medications and fluids, and drawing blood. Repetitive vein detection and accessing the veins is not only time consuming, it causes anxiety, pain and distress in patients and it also lowers the confidence of the health professional performing it. Some patients according to a study are 'difficult sticks' or patients with difficult vein access which means that their veins are either small, and/or deep that might prevent the health professionals from finding a site easily and quickly. The study aimed to create an improvised vein finder using Bright Light Emitting Diode (LED) Lights. Specifically, the study aimed to reduce the problem and the time required for locating veins and aims to investigate the effectiveness of light emitting diode as vein finder. The study used twenty-five (25) respondents, five (5) with dark skin color using Von Luschan's chromatic scale, five (5) children, five (5) elderly, five (5) obese, and five (5) adult. After utilizing the product, the effectivity rating of the respondents was surveyed and analyzed. The result yielded a mean of 3.08 as the rating which is effective. Based on the results obtained, the researchers conclude that the LED as an Improvised Vein finder is effective in illuminating and locating veins in various arm sizes and color. In view of results and conclusion, the researchers recommend improvement on the brightness of the Led lights for better vision of the veins.

AUTHOR: JUDE CHRIST P. ALVIOR, JAYCOB F. PAGUNTALAN, RICCI ANN C. BAGUNA, GENEVIEVE A. SUMUGAT
This descrpitve study conducted in second semester, school year 2017-2018 aimed to determining the measures to minimize absenteeism among high school students, selected using stratified random sampling to ensure that each garde level was equally represented. Data were gathered with the use of researcher-made questionnaire-checklist. The data obtained were treared using mean and rank. Findings revealed that the motivation by teachers ranked number one followed by graded recitation, were considered to be very effective measures to minimize students’ absenteeism. However, having quiz in every meeting was considered to be less effective measure to minimize students’ absenteeism followed by home visit by teachers and sanctions for every absence. Students who are motivated by their teachers are more likely not to be absent in class. Graded recitation in class can also help minimize absenteeism among the students. On the other hand, sactions for every absence of the students, home visit by teachers as well as giving quiz every meeting would not likely minimize student’s absenteeism since results revealed that they were less effective measures.

The purpose of this study was to determine the molluscicidal action of chili Capsicum frutescens L. powdered fruit against golden apple snail Pomacea canaliculata. Specifically, it aimed to find out the active compounds present in chili powdered fruit responsible for its molluscicidal action through phytochemical analysis, and to ascertain the significant difference in the molluscicidal action of chili powdered fruit at different concertrations and when compared to a commercial molluscide. Seventy-five (75) golden apple snails were used in the study and were randomly distributed in five (5) treatments with three (3) replicates each. The powdered fruit of chili fruit. The results revealed that powdered chili fruit contain active compounds like tannins, steroids, alkaloids, and glcosides. Their presence in the powdered chili fruit might be the reason for its molluscicidal property leading to the mortality of golden apple snail particularly the alkaloids which have notable toxic properties against mollusk. The results further revealed that there is no significant difference in the molluscicidal action of chili powdered fruit at different concentrations in terms of mortality rate but it showed a significant difference in terms of effectivity time when compared to the commercial molluscide. Thus, chili powdered fruit could be used as potent ingredient in the formulation of cost effective and environment-friendly molluscide.
