Philosophy is the study of ideas and beliefs about the meaning of life. When someone studies philosophy he wants to understand the fundamental questions about existence, values, reason. The department of philosophy was established in 1944 and the honours courses was started from 1985. This is one of the Departments that have contributed to the understanding of the development of Indian and Western Philosophy under the syllabus of University of Gour Banga. The department is supported by a dedicated team of faculties who aim at effectively delivering a course in Philosophy, which is prominent for uniformly maintaining its standards of academic excellence over the years.
