National Nutrition Week 1st to 7th September
Objectives
1. To make people aware about the nutrition and its importance in life.
2. To overcome the problems of malnutrition.
3. To educate people about healthy diet and Nutrition.
Methodology
1. Inauguration of National Nutrition Week
2. Anthropometric Measurement Survey in Primary School
3. Different types of Competition like Pickle Competition
4. Importance of Nutrition in day to day life
5. Quiz Competition & Knowledge Test regarding nutrition
6. Valedictory Function
Outcomes
1. An awareness was created amongst community about the correct
nutritional practices and food fads and fallacies.
2. The students were able to understand the nutritional problems
of community and various approaches in nutrition & health
interventions, prevention and control measures .
World Breast Feeding Week 1st to 7th August
Objectives
1. To make people aware about the nutritional and dietary requirements of pregnant and lactating mothers.
2. The importance of breast milk from very first hour of birth of the infant.
3. Awareness of lactating mothers regarding the issues related to heath and problems due to avoidance of breast feeding.
Methodology
The following programmes were conducted during this week to achieve the objectivities
1. Guest Lecture:- Importance of Breastfeeding & issues related to Breastfeeding. . by Dr. MBBS,DGO,Gynaecologist
2. Student’s Knowledge Test on Breastfeeding.
3. Display of Poster at “Shiv-Pratibha” for college students
4. Visit to Any Anganwadi ICDS Center to impart knowledge regarding breast feeding and its consequences
5. PPT Presentation on Breast Cancer.
6. Different types of Competition like Weaning Food Competition.
Outcomes
Mothers from rural areas and pregnant women were benefitted out of the activities conducted by the department and also students got aware regarding the problems during lactation phase and their solutions while interacting with the patients.
Hand loom Day 7th August
Objectives
1. To honour the handloom weavers.
2. To promote the handloom industry.
3. To contribute to the socioeconomic development of the country .
4. To glorify the Indian culture.
Methodology
1. Display of handloom for weaving experience.
2. All the stake holders were motivated to wear handloom garments on the day. Prizes were given to the best outfit.
3. Presentation of handloom day at the students activity centre.
4. Guest lectures on the importance of handloom day.
Outcomes
1. An awareness was created among students & society about the handloom fabrics of India
2. The multiple identities of the countries were showcased
3. A sustainable and eco friendly mean of earning a livelihood was made familiar to the students.
4. The willingness of use of handloom increased among young generation.
International Women’s Day Celebrations 1st to 8th March
Objectives
To bring women together on a common platform
To empower them by educating them in health aspects
To attain self sufficiency through entrepreneurship
To enlighten them socially and psychologically
Methodology
International Women’s Day is organised by the Department of Home Science every year.
Outcomes
Sensitisation and awareness regarding entrepreneurship talents and skills of the students was observed through the activities conducted during display by students.
Delivered motivating speech boosting physical and mental health of the students.
World Mental Health Day
Objectives
To increase access to and utilisation of comprehensive mental health services by persons with mental health problems.
To increase access to mental health care especially to vulnerable groups including homeless persons, persons in remote areas, educationally, socially and deprived sections.
To reduce prevalence and impact of risk factors associated with mental health problems,
To reduce risk and incidence of suicide and attempted suicide.
To enhance availability and equitable distribution of skilled human resources for mental health.
