Digital Electronics Laboratory


General information about the Laboratory: According to present curriculum B-Tech (ECE) 3rd Semester students perform experiments on Digital Electronics Laboratory.


Digital System Design Laboratory (EC 392)


Course Outcome:

CO 1: To define the concept of nomenclature of Digital Ics, Specifications, Study of the Data Sheet, Concept of Vcc and Ground, Verification of the Truth Tables of Logic Gates using TTL Ics.

CO 2: To construct different combinational circuits using digital trainer kit.

CO 3: To construct different sequential circuits using digital trainer kit.

CO 4: To demonstrate MOS Inverter with different loads using PSPICE software, CMOS Inverter for different parameters Kn, Kp as a design variable in suitable circuit simulator software.

CO 5: To develop 4-bit Multiplexer using VHDL\Verilog , decade counter using VHDL\Verilog, 3-input NAND gate and its simulation using suitable logic simulator.

1. Introduction to Digital Electronics Lab- Nomenclature of Digital ICs, Specifications, Study of the Data Sheet, Concept of Vcc and Ground, Verification of the Truth Tables of Logic Gates using TTL ICs.

2. Implementation of the given Boolean Function using Logic Gates in both SOP and POS forms.

3. Verification of State Tables of RS, J-K, T and D Flip-Flops using NAND & NOR Gates.

4. Implementation and Verification of Decoder/De-Multiplexer and Encoder using Logic Gates.

5. Implementation of 4x1 Multiplexer using Logic Gates.

6. Implementation of 4-Bit Parallel Adder Using 7483 IC.

7. Design and Verify the 4- Bit Synchronous Counter.

8. Design and Verify the 4-Bit Asynchronous Counter.

9. Simulation of MOS Inverter with different loads using PSPICE software.

10. Simulation of CMOS Inverter for different parameters Kn, Kp as a design variable in suitable circuit simulator software.

11. Design of a 4x1 Multiplexer using VHDL/Verilog.

12. Design of a Decade Counter using VHDL/Verilog.

13. Design of a 3-input NAND gate and its simulation using suitable logic simulator.

Course Outcome:

CO 1: To define the concept of designing of different logic gates using universal logic gates.

CO 2: To construct different combinational circuits using digital trainer kit.

CO 3: To construct different sequential circuits using digital trainer kit.

CO 4: To analyse Adder circuit using Shift Register and full Adder, Universal Register using multiplexer and flip-flops.

Lists of experiments performed:

1. Realization of basic gates using Universal logic gates.

2. Code conversion circuits- BCD to Excess-3 & vice-versa.

3. .4-bit parity generator & comparator circuits.

4. Construction of simple Decoder & Multiplexer circuits using logic gates.

5. Design of combinational circuit for BCD to decimal conversion to drive 7-segment display using multiplexer.

6. Construction of simple arithmetic circuits-Adder, Subtractor.

7. Realization of RS-JK & D flip-flops using Universal logic gates.

8. Realization of Universal Register using JK flip-flops & logic gates.

9. Realization of Universal Register using multiplexer & flip-flops.

10. Construction of Adder circuit using Shift Register & full Adder.

11. Realization of Asynchronous Up/Down counter

12. Realization of Synchronous Up/Down counter

13. Design of Sequential Counter with irregular sequences.

14. Realization of Ring counter & Johnson’s counter.

15. Familiarization with A/D and D/A circuits.
