Department of Chemistry Govt. P.G. College, Ranikhet

Department of Chemistry started its journey in the year1982 -83 with one faculty member and one non-teaching staff, one classroom and one laboratory. Starting as a pass subject in undergraduate courses afterwards it was possible to introduce it as postgraduate course with organic chemistry specialization in 2002-2003. In spite of so many difficulties, the department passed glorious17 years and reached the present status. At present the department is running with four permanent faculty members, two lab assistant, two lab attendants, 3 classrooms and three well equipped laboratories including research laboratory along with enthusiastic attendants. The present group of teachers are fully devoted and committed to their duties and obligations. Besides teaching, they are actively engaged in research work and have published several research papers. They work hard to improve their own performance as teachers as also to infuse their students with dynamism. The department ensures a good deal of faculty- student interaction and academic flexibility. Faculty members consider it their duty to meet the needs of students so that they feel no want in the path that they have taken up. The fundamental objective of the department is not only to give lectures and conduct seminars but cater to the multifaceted development of the students‟ personality and to equip them up for the future challenges. Most of our students have been successfully placed in various fields of the society like scientists, education, administration, industry, medical and public sectors etc. Earlier, the department has completed one major and two minor research projects in the supervision of Dr. B. K. Singh.

The departmental library which acts as student‟s own library to cater to the domain - specific needs of postgraduate and research students of the department. The library of department has approximately 571 books including reference books of prominent authors.
