Deon Barksdale, Jr. is a proud graduate of Florida A&M University and is currently based in Tampa, Florida. He serves as the Production Manager for Brévo Theatre and most recently worked as a member of the backstage crew for Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. with New Tampa Players. He also previously worked on The SpongeBob Musical with New Tampa Players as a member of the stunt team and crew. His additional credits with New Tampa Players include assistant stage manager and assistant sound board operator for Oklahoma!
Deon’s backstage experience spans a wide range of production roles, including dresser and costume crew for Not-Too-Spooky Howl-O-Ween Radio Show, Elmo’s Christmas Wish, and Welcome to Our Street at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, as well as production assistant for My Lord, What a Night at Florida Studio Theatre.
With Essential Theatre, his credits include company manager for Little Shop of Horrors, projectionist for In the Red and Brown Water, light board operator for Sugar Ray, and carpenter for King Hedley II and Change It Up: This Is Me. Additional experience includes crew member and costume constructor for The Mathematics of Love, Sweet Charity, Fall and Spring Dance Concerts, Antigone, and They Don’t Pay? We Won’t Pay! at the University of South Florida School of Theatre and Dance.
