Denoux Stud, owned by Willa Grey, is a boutique Thoroughbred breeding farm located just 50 miles from historic Belmont Park in Belmont, New York. Surrounded by rolling pasture and fresh country air, our farm is designed with one goal in mind: producing sound, intelligent Thoroughbreds with strong minds and real athletic ability.
We believe great racehorses start long before the starting gate. From foal to finished athlete, each horse in our care receives individual attention, thoughtful handling, and a program tailored to its body and brain. The result is a type we’re proud to stand behind—horses who are brave, rideable, and mentally tough, with the physical tools to match.
Our stallions represent the core ideals of Denoux Stud. Each brings something unique to the breeding shed while sharing the same underlying qualities: class, consistency, and courage.
Ducati – A stallion with speed and undeniable presence. Ducati’s foals tend to be sharp, forward-going types with a competitive edge and excellent hind-end power, ideal for sprinter–miler campaigns.
Esplanade - A hard-knocking, multiple G1-winning dirt router with real depth and grit. Esplanade’s foals are expected to be strong-bodied, genuine middle-distance types who relish work, handle busy campaigns, and keep finding more from a mile up to classic trips.
Gang of Thieves – Quick, clever, and all heart. This sprinter stamps his get with mental sharpness and gate speed, producing runners who break well, settle, and finish with intensity.
Glorious Victory – Our go-to source of stamina and balance. His offspring are classic-distance types who stay on strongly, handle longer trips, and often improve with time and distance.
Holy Warrior – Tough, consistent, and honest. Holy Warrior passes on durability, workmanlike attitudes, and a strong constitution—perfect for owners looking for horses who show up and try every time.
Manhattan – Our homebred headliner, a classically bred son of I’m No Fool who embodies the Denoux Stud ideal. Manhattan combines scope, athleticism, and a generous temperament. His foals typically show good size, strong toplines, and a professional attitude from an early age.
Whether you’re seeking pure speed, deep stamina, or a versatile, durable runner, Denoux Stud offers stallions with real-world talent and meaningful genetic depth.
Denoux runners have made a habit of turning up where the lights are brightest. From Kentucky to Caulfield, Ascot to the Breeders’ Cup, our colors have been carried by classic winners, globetrotting turf stars, gritty sprinters, and iron-tough steeplechasers.
Over the past several seasons we’ve sent out multiple Grade 1 winners on both dirt and turf: Kentucky Derby and Travers hero Sushi*, Oaks and classic winners like Gleaming War, Bacardi*, Surprisingly*, Bordeaux, and Amidala*, along with top-level performers such as Gin Blossom, Red Dirt Road*, Ethical Dilemma, Azriel*, and staying standouts Subzero Angel and Pumpkinspicelatte. Our homebred headliner Manhattan* rose from a 3-year-old stakes winner to a multiple Grade 1-winning globetrotter, earning his way into the stallion barn with elite form in North America, Europe, and Australia. Juvenile stars like Melbourne*, Glitterish*, Gabrielle, Vervain*, Cohiba*, and Havilliard* have kept the pipeline full, proving our program produces precocious talent that trains on.
We’ve also built a strong record on championship days. Denoux horses have captured Breeders’ Cup races across divisions and codes — from turf juveniles and fillies to long-winded steeplechasers and SC sprinters — with names like Ellis Island, Melbourne*, Surprisingly*, Gabrielle, Victorious Spirit, Wishcraft, Amazing Beam, Dictionary*, Casteldaccia, Kallias, National Velvet, About A Boy, and Gleaming War all adding their chapters to our Breeders’ Cup story. Year after year, our runners not only qualify for the big races — they show up and get a piece.
At the heart of it all is a commitment to breeding and developing our own. Many of our brightest names carry the asterisk (*), marking them as Denoux homebreds who were planned, raised, and campaigned in-house before graduating to the shed or the broodmare band. Whether it’s a classic-winning colt, a tough mares’ handicapper, or a versatile SC campaigner, our goal is the same: sound, durable athletes who can compete – and win – at the very top wherever they go.
