Review Study 1 - Barriers
Review Study 1 - Barriers
There are 2 barriers that are significantly more common: The inability to vote around a work schedule and standing in line for an hour or more. Both of these are issues with time.
People of color are affected significantly more than their white counterparts.
The poorest voters are twice as likely to find voting challenging.
A majority of voters are in favor of making voting day a holiday, which has the potential to provide more time for voters.
The significant racial imbalance within the republican party gives Republicans no motivation to reduce voting barriers.
Study 2 - Distrust and Cynicism
Review Study 2 - Distrust and Cynicism
People choose not to vote because of a lack of interest in either candidate. This seems logical.
A larger group does not vote because of a lack of faith in the system.
Democrats led in nearly all measures of distrust and cynicism regarding government leadership.
Democrats trust all services except the police. Whereas, Republicans overwhelmingly trust the police.
