Functional ecology in the Neotropics

My research focuses on the study of biodiversity from the perspective of functional ecology. I am interested in understanding the factors that modulate ecosystem functions over different transformation scenarios of tropical environments. To do this, I use different conceptual approaches ranging from population ecology to ecosystem ecology. Likewise, I consider important to keep documenting basic components of natural history and ecology of species, especially in the Neotropics where the knowledge gaps are conspicuous. Biodiversity conservation and environmental education are also within my interests, so I believe necessary to help raise awareness of nature’s value and provide the conceptual inputs for conservation plans.
