Thank you for visiting my web page, where I aim to share information about my research.
I am a research assistant and PhD candidate in the Department of Economics at İstanbul University, Turkey. My research interests are related to the international political economy, the political economy of development and the political economy of institutions.
The long-run economic problems of Turkey have always been my primary interest which led me to focus on topics related to economic growth and development. However, I came to realize that a policy design can work as long as it takes the political structure into account. Therefore, beginning with my PhD studies, I decided to turn my attention to the political economy, mainly how political structure affects economic performance.
In my thesis, I investigate the role of host countries' political regimes in attracting capital flows and question whether political regime matters with a focus on developing and least developed countries.
Moreover, I occasionally share my notes on the Turkish economy and global economy on Medium.
