The Allegory of the Three Ruffians
& the Path to Self-Mastery
By Burx Norrod
Burx Norrod grew up in Salisbury, Rhodesia (now Harare, Zimbabwe), and later moved with his family to Maui following the Rhodesian Bush War. Inspired by his father—a U.S. Marine and former member of the Rhodesian SAS—Burx joined the United States Marine Corps and traveled extensively across the U.S. and Asia.
After his military service, he built a career in sales and mortgage lending, ultimately becoming one of the nation’s top-producing mortgage brokers. Along the way, he developed a passion for writing and has since compiled multiple books focused on personal growth, symbolism, and self-mastery.
Burx joined Freemasonry in 2012, where he immersed himself in esoteric education and ritual work, later becoming a 32° Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner, as well as a 3rd Degree member of the Ordo Templi Orientis.
He currently resides in Albuquerque, where he continues his work in mortgage lending, writing, and firearm instruction, while actively participating in shooting sports and traveling.
The Allegory of the Three Ruffians & the Path to Self-Mastery
Most men don’t fail all at once.
They fail slowly—through delay, through inconsistency, and through the quiet assumption that what has been built will somehow sustain itself without continued effort.
Demons of the Temple is not a book about external enemies.
It is a book about the forces within.
Drawing from Masonic allegory, philosophical tradition, and real-world application, Burx Norrod reveals the deeper meaning behind the Three Ruffians—Jubela, Jubelo, and Jubelum—not as figures of legend, but as patterns that exist in every man’s life.
These are not myths.
They are behaviors.
They are decisions.
They are the small deviations that, left unchecked, lead to the collapse of everything a man attempts to build.
Through a progression of symbolic and practical insight, this book explores:
Why discipline fails—and how to restore it
How inconsistency quietly destroys progress
Why awareness must be maintained, not assumed
The allegorical death and resurrection of the Builder
What it truly means to become the Temple
Blending the symbolic depth of Freemasonry with the practical demands of modern life, Demons of the Temple is both philosophical and actionable—challenging the reader to move beyond understanding and into execution.
