Christopher DeLuca is an AP Capstone teacher at B.M.C. Durfee High School, an urban school of approximately 2600 students in Fall River, Massachusetts. He, along with his colleage John Saurette, piloted the AP Capstone program in 2016 and have grown it into a thriving and awarded program. They now have 6 team members and graduated 69 AP Capstone Candidates in 2025 -several of whom were also AP Diploma Candidates. Fall River Public Schools offers AP Seminar and AP Research as core English courses.
He and his colleagues were awarded Outstanding Capstone Program - New England in 2022 as well as an AP Access Award for increasing the access to AP courses for hispanic/latin students by 86% and black/African American students by 140%. His team is proud that their AP population looks like a true cross-section of the overall community population of Fall River. His goal is that students of all races, religions, socio-economic backgrounds, and identities can explore their academic interests and progress beyond secondary education.
In additional to teaching AP Seminar for the past nine (9) years; he also teaches AP Research.
Chris is part of the leadership team for the AP Seminar Reading each year, an AP Workshop Consultant, and part of the AP Seminar ELA Teaching and Learning team. He is particularly proud to have piloted and led College Board's Chat with a Content Expert service which allows schools to schedule free, one-to-one or group sessions with trained consultants to assist in the pre-implementation of AP Seminar worldwide. In addition to his duties as the lead consultant for this feature, he also participates in College Board outreach, implementation support, and resource development.

He received his B.A. in Theatre & English Literature and his M.Ed in Inclusive Adolescent Education from Nazareth University of Rochester, NY. He has also completed graduate level course work at Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts and Rhode Island College.
In his free time, Chris loves to go on road trips with his friends, hang out with his pug, Gianmarco, spend time with family, and travel. If you have never been to Volcanos National Park on the Big Island of Hawaii, he highly suggests doing so.
