The house system consists of 4 houses named after the Brooklyn Four. Each house has an equal representation of grade level that is reflective of our chapter.
The houses compete all semester long to earn points and make long-lasting connections. At the end of the semester, the winning house is rewarded with a prize of their choosing.
Each house has 2 representatives - 1 underclassman & 1 upperclassman to make any major decisions in regards to the house. These representatives will help sort the incoming pledge class into houses!
The houses do not change over a brother's time in AKPsi, but new pledges will be added in every semester!
At the beginning of every semester, each house will vote and decide the representatives during the first chapter. Representatives will have the opportunity to change each semester.
The end goal of the house system is to increase brother involvement and retention rate throughout the grades and pledge classes.
Another main reason is to ease the transition from being a pledge to a brother. Creating an opportunity for relationships across grade levels and pledge classes.
Points can be earned by attending events put on by the chapter or university. All point-based opportunities will be clearly stated and announced via email and during our weekly chapter.
There are two different point opportunities, one time and ongoing. Things such as getting coffee with a brother or hosting a house dinner are ongoing point opportunities. Where chapter, a service event, or a professional speaker are one-time opportunities for points.
