So I was wondering if there's a better way to do conditional compilation such that it really does just check whether you have "Delphi 5 or above" when compiling that line, rather than this format that requires updating every single new version of delphi that comes out.

If I was a component vendor (TMS, DevEx) I might feel compelled to stick with the long, verbose syntax that EVERY delphi version ever supports. That's why that big mess is there in most component codebases.

Just had to create these 2 files, set version info in the delphi dproj file to OFF, and then add the specific .rc file to the module's dproj where I want it to appear, in this case a minor delphi project:

Make sure you have the Regenerate Resource option checked (on the delphi actions Project property page). If that is checked, the next thing to do is have a look in the project folder, there should be a projectname.rc file there that FinalBuilder generates. Open it in notepad and check that the version info is correct. If so then that would suggest that the compiler is not linking the generated .res file. You should have a {$R *.res} line in your projectname.dpr file somewhere.

I apologize. So far I assumed that Delphi could not be the cause, but you are right, I installed 11.3 a couple of weeks ago, and the latest patch just yesterday. So, delphi version is another factor to consider.

Guess the only way of having proof is either upgrading Delphi on your side or downgrading in my side.

Taking advantage of the demo revision you mentioned, is it possible that you create a simple demo on how to use the SmartGrid and SmartTable? or perhaps some general guide from the delphi perspective? Since the jqwidgets site is well documented, I was planning to include them with the javascript approach but it would be just perfect to use them fully in delphi, however, here is not any documentation for them other than how to run the demo.

We recently purchased a copy of AQTime pro (version 8.80.3749.7) for using on an old legacy D7 project and for the life of me I cannot seem to get the allocation profiler to work with applications built with runtime packages option. Initially we thought this might be something to do with our delphi project itself but I went and created a very simple test project with a small class contained in a bpl in order to see if I could get this working. This is a very basic test app written for the sole purpose of trying to get AQtime to respond. we do not have any custom memory managers and Delphi 7 is updated to build 8.1 and I have also attached the test project for you in case it helps.

tondrej thanks for you observation, you are right wich sometimes the values to detect the presence of delphi are stored in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE root. but mostly of times is stored in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER root.

When newcomers ask questions about delphi they usually specify no more details. They hardly read the Smart Questions essay and such. However frequently their question is specific to their Delphi version. Either because they describe a version-specific bug, or because the answer should only use features present in the poster's version and such. It also may make search easier for those answering whose experience is with different versions.

Proposal: tags like delphi can have a list of derived tags like delphi-2006 and such.
